Up for sale is my 1955 Chevrolet 2 door sedan. Its a stunning car, that looks badass, with a price that is hard to beat.
The guy I bought it from has owned it since high school. It was his first car. It was driven as a stocker at first then after he graduated got a decent job and starting making money the first thing he did was customize this car. He was born in the 50's so when he starting customizing this would have been in the 70's. Luckily it wasn't panel painted or some of that other crazy stuff they did at the time, but it does have some unique things that hint at when it was built. In the beginning, Well of course it was the guys only car, it was driven alot, then life happened. Wife, kids, etc and it was parked. Every now and then, maybe for a anniversary, it was taken out and driven, but not much. Fast forward to the present. The kids have long since graduated high school, college, etc have their own lives and now your once bustling life has slowed down and you have more time then you know what to do with. Well that extra time was turned towards this 1955 and a 1968 Mustang that his wife had owned when they first met. About a year ago, I ran across this car. The guy had some bills come up and made the hard decision to sell the 1955.
So lets go over how the car sits now.
The body looks amazing in the pictures and most people who see it in person are blown away and would say I'm crazy for saying this, but I would consider it a great driver quality paint job. Most of the body and paint you see was done in the 70's. How many cars do you know of that look like this that were painted 50 years ago ? Probably none. I'll also note that I'm a perfectionist, I can see flaws in cars that everyone else says are "Perfect". So I'll pretend like I'm walking around the car and tell you what I notice. No you cannot see any of these flaws in the pictures. I've attempted at taking closeups to show the flaws, but I can never get the pictures to show anything other then a perfect paint job.
Passenger fender : The top of the fender does have little marks from 50 years of bending over to change spark plugs, change air cleaners, etc. Above the headlight was a bigger scratch (probably from a belt buckle) that was touched up. At one time the fenders had some trim fastened onto the spears on the fenders. If you look really close you can see where holes were welded shut. At one time the radio antenna nut came loose, allowing the radio antenna to move around a bit and there are marks (which were touched up) around the antenna. The front fender area around the headlights/park lights do have rock chips and similar.
Passenger door : There are several marks on the door. If I had to guess I would say that the guy was parked somewhere and someone leaving spun the tires a bit and threw some rocks, hence marking the door (they have been touched up).
Passenger quarter: This has Nomad style rear wheel well openings. The body work is okay, but isn't perfectly straight around the wheel well opening. There is also a spot about waist high where somebody was probably wiping off the roof and got too close while wearing a belt buckle, it has been touched up, but it is there.
Trunk lid/tops of quarters. I just got together with my inlaws, one of which is addicted to coffee and always has one. We were running errands in her car, and everytime she got in and out of the car, her metal coffee cup was set on the roof, hood, etc. Well everytime you do things like that, you leave marks. Especially on a car painted a dark color. Well this car has marks like that all over the tops of the quarters and deck lid. Some minor enough to buff out, some that probably won't.
Drivers quarter : It has the same thing as the passenger quarter (just no belt buckle mark).
Drivers door. At the bottom of the door it has some marks that I would guess are from opening the door while sitting in close quarters in a garage and bumping a sled, a box, etc (they are touched up). About the middle of the door it has some marks where a kids bicycle handlebar rubbed it.
Drivers fender: its the same as the passenger fender, but no belt buckle mark.
Hood: Yes it has hood bulges, at first you might think "Oh NO !", but they look really nice. If you don't like them however, 1955 hoods are not hard to find. Anyway originally the hood bulges were molded in, ie they smeared enough bondo on to get rid of the seam where the hood bulges meet the hood. Well 50 years worth of heat coming off the engine and 50 years of hood slamming caused some of that bondo to crack. So I stripped the hood and painted it. The hood looks pretty darn good, but if your picky there is some dust and orange peel in it.
The Roof: Similar to the hood, when I got it was painted black, however lots of years ago the guy bumped a pheasant (or similar) about in the middle of the roof a few inches above the rear view mirror. Which left a couple little dimples and damaging some paint. Sometime years later, the mistake was made to hit it with a pressure washer, well the pressure washer pealed off some paint around that damaged area. So I stripped the roof, fixed the damage from the pheasant, and painted it. Again like the hood, it looks pretty darn good, but if your picky it has some dust and orange peel.

So look at my pictures, does what I said look like what you see in the pictures ? No, not at all, like I told you earlier when I describe flaws in my stuff, my friends just shake their heads and smile, because they think I'm nuts. I told you I'm a perfectionist. You'll probably look at it and say it looks perfect.
As far as the chrome trim, bumpers, stainless all that fun stuff. Its too nice to be original, but it isn't freshly rechromed. It shines and looks really good, but doesn't look brand new and perfect good. I would consider it driver quality.
As far as the engine compartment it is as clean as the the rest of the car. I don't like messy engine compartments. I'm one of those guys who whenever I wax the outside of the car I wax the firewall, inner fenders, radiator support, etc as well. Sitting in there is healthy small block chevy, topped with a edelbrock 4 barrel carb and edelbrock aluminum intake. It has a turbo 350 with a mild stall, enough where you notice it, but not to the point where it is unpleasant to drive. Out back there is a 10 bolt rearend from a Camaro with middle gears. It has stock brakes and stock steering. It runs and drives excellent.
The trunk is clean and simple, but nice. In case your wondering yes I wax the inside of the trunk as well.
As far as the interior, its fairly stock. It has bucket seats from if I had to guess a van, (remember how it was built in the 70's) they probably were the coolest thing ever back then. Anyway they are comfortable and fit nice. I do have armrests for the seats as well, I don't like how they look so I took them off, but they are fully upholstered and very easy to put back on if you wanted to. The rear seat is stock. The doorpanels, headliner, seats, etc are all upholstered to match. If the interior was all black or really any other color then light gray it would look new, but just because it is a light color, you can see some areas have a mark here or there.
I've had several people ask if I was going to keep it what would I be doing to the car ? The one thing I noticed last time I drove it is the speedometer needle bounced a little bit. With the upcoming car show season I was going to keep my eye out either for a place to rebuild it or a sale/swap meet find on a different one.
So Let me ask you this, when is the last time you've seen a car that looks this nice for $34,999 ? Probably not very often. When have you seen a car for $34,999 where car is so nice he waxes his engine compartment and trunk ? Probably never. This is a great deal on a nice car. Don't let this one get away.
I really don't want to sell it but I'm losing storage and don't have a choice. Trades I suppose are possible, but won't really help with my storage problem.
I deal with trucking companies daily for work. If you need help with transportation just ask.
I want to be paid in full within 48 hours after you purchase the car. I will only accept cash when you pick it up or a bank wire transfer.
