1950 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup Additional Info:
These classic "trucks that built America" just don't get any more "original condition" than this one. Climbing in and grabbing the big wheel is like taking a trip back in time. The smell, the purr of the old straight six, and the action of the "three on the tree" shifting are an experience in and of themselves. All original - foot start, oil bath air filter, brakes recently redone, correct motor rebuilt 15,000 miles ago (in 2002), the rare spare tire sling and NOS spare tire lock, chrome hood ornament and bumper guards and air vents to go with the deluxe cab grill, clean interior with working heater, and the very rare original radio - that does need a tube replacement but was rebuilt also in 2002.
Also included are the original Texas plates, owner's manual, manual engine crank, original tool kit and Chevy-issued tools, original jack and lug wrench, lots of original Chevrolet sales manuals and brochures, as well as the shop manual and correct Chevrolet "butterfly" screwdrivers.
You can keep this truck running for decades to come, with lots of spare parts. Three generators, a starter, two transmissions, two carburetors, coil, fuel filter, two horns, heater blower motor, taillight, window regulator, replacement corner windows, distributor, extra wheels, and a big tub of gaskets, bolts and screws, cab parts, spark plug wires, and more.
The wheels are correct, with beauty rings, and correct six-inch tires. The paint and glass and rubber around the windows are period. The debate was whether to have the miscellaneous small dings and scratches removed and a new paint job and seals installed, to list it on Bring a Trailer, so we will see. Correct yellow pine bed is solid and clean. Seven colors were available in 1950, and this is the original Black.
