Vehicle Details

This is a very rare find. 1946 Chevrolet Fuel oil tanker with extremely low miles.

This truck started it's life inside the Texaco Refinery in Lawrenceville IL being used as a pump truck.

After it's brief stint there, It traveled 8 miles down the road to the tiny tiny town of Birds IL where it was used as their Volunteer fire department pump truck.

After seeing little to no service ther, it traveled 7 more miles further to the town of Flat Rock IL and purchased by the American legion in the year 2000 where it would be driven in one parade per year up until the year 2020 where it just stayed in its garage.

There was a 90 year old gentleman at the legion who assured me the miles are correct. I trained eye will spit the GMC gauges that were installed due to a problem with the originals, Howeve, he told me the Chevrolet speedometer was retained to keep track of the miles.

I have honestly found nothing about the truck to prove otherwise. There was a paper Peak Antifreeze service tagged that had broke in hal, One half was wired to the heater core and the other half was laying in the engine apron, Dated 10-13-1960. It has survived there for the last 63 year, I had my niece laminated that tag and placed it back in its rightful spot.

I have not tried the pump but was told it all work, they removed the couplers on the tank outlets so nothing would gather and hurt the tank.

The tank bed and boxes are a work of art in themselves . Just a beautiful art deco piece.

I rebuilt the carb and the little 216 purs like new . Probably the easiest starting vehicle on the property, light, turn signals, gauge, window, windshield and siren all work and crank up, down and out as new.

This truck is a literal time capsule with so many possibilities. If you are near Shelbyville IL and would like to view in person before bidding, please reach out to me.
