Never thought a fire pumper would make an impact for your small business? Think again. The previous owner had this truck since 2008 and reportedly has only 18xxx original miles. But sold on a mileage exempt title due to age. No books or receipts included.
Made in General Motors' Janesville, Wisconsin factory (VIN code J), this one-ton (VIN code 3) truck started life as a chassis/cab model (VIN code 3) before being shipped out for a conversion to its final form.
Wearing a body by Emergency One in Hamburg, New York and Ocala, Florida, this Chevy one-ton fire pumper has four-wheel drive and a manual transmission. Finished in Safety Yellow, the truck's paint and trim are in overall great shape but does show some age. The bodywork is straight and presents as a nice original square body.
This truck rolls on older Uniroyal Fleetmaster tires, size 7.50-16, in front and new Goodyear dual rear tires. Each tire is mounted to a metal wheel painted body color. The wheels are in good, original order.
Under the counterbalanced hood is a 5.7L V-8 engine (VIN code M). Backing the motor is a Saginaw Muncie four-speed manual transmission (SM465) with a two-speed transfer case. Driver convenience features include power steering. Horn is inop. The underbody is original and shows corrosion as seen in photos.
Inside, the brown vinyl interior is in great shape. The folding bench seat is clean with no rips or tears. Black floor mats cover the floor. The headliner is in good, original order. A two-spoke steering wheel faces the driver and a tan-over-black dashboard plus tan inner door panels look great. There are controls for the lights and sirens courtesy of Code 3 and Federal Signal. A floor-mounted shifter and transfer case lever complete the interior. We have not tested the pumper on other fire equipment.
For 1980, Chevrolet trucks received an all-new grille, its first completely new design since 1974 along with square headlights.
