1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Additional Info:
The attraction is not just that this 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 is a real-deal Super Sport. As you look at the whole package, you see a hardtop with an awesome color combo and a mean big block that really delivers that attitude you want in a muscle car icon like this.
For many, the '68 SS396 is the perfect balance of speed and sophistication, and this one showcases all of that particularly well. After all, the year-correct Matador Red is a great aggressive color. And when the paint application is done so professionally on the well creased sheetmetal, it radiates the kind of sleek shine where the bumpers and trim needed an investment, too, just to keep up with the luster. Those polished American Racing wheels are also part of the terrific shine, and at the same time, the 18/20 inch front/rear stagger gives this an awesome stance you want on a true Super Sport. It goes with the aggressive factory SS pieces, like the dual power bulge hood, proper SS396 badging, and large dual exhaust tips. Plus, there's a terrific dark side. Not only do you have the blackout grille and rear panel, but also the full-length D96 black stripe package seems to unite them across the car. And the premium black vinyl roof adds to both the darkness and distinction.
The black interior is what we love to see on muscle machines, and it looks particularly nice here as it coordinates with the exterior accents. The whole presentation is clean, roomy, and quite correct. Also, we all love bucket seats with a center console in these Super Sports. And while the seats and carpeting look deep and dark, there are some nice elements to brighten up the whole layout - including the center console with horseshoe shifter and the classic Chevy sports steering wheel. And the bright housing around the auxiliary gauge trio makes it even easier to keep an eye on what's going on in the engine bay.
When you open the hood, the glossy black fender walls and overall tidy setup really let the bold big block in the middle radiate with power. It's a proper 396 cubic-inch V8, but this one inhales better thanks to a Holley four-barrel carburetor. It also exhales with added power and authority from a set of long tube headers feeding the dual exhaust. And while this is a mean street machine, there's much more to the total package. The TH400 three-speed transmission is stout enough to handle this power while also delivering automatic cruising. Plus, power steering, power brakes, front discs, a newer front sway bar, and grippy/modern ZR-rated tires make this a fine all-around driver.
This is the real-deal SS396 that's impressive for both show and go. Call today!!!
