1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Belair Additional Info:

1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop Sport Coupe
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop Sport Coupe had a complete frame off nut and bolt concourse rebuild to new. It retains its original 265 cubic inch V8 engine. Since the engines were built in either Flint, Michigan or Tonawanda, New York-they had to be shipped to the assembly plants and await installation in the cars. It is very common to see engine build dates earlier than the build date or serial number of the engine. The intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, distributor, carburetor, radiator, starter and generator all have correct part numbers and/or evidence of build dates in March of 1955.
The transmission is correct by casting number 3708188 and date code C35, indicating 1955 V-8 and March build date. The rear axle has a casting number of 3707306 with build date of C86 (March 8, 1956). This is the only item that I can find as incorrect or had been replaced on the car.
The car has been finished in its original colors of Harvest Gold/India Ivory with its one option interior of Light Green vinyl and beige cloth.
The car has the brake and fuel lines on the outside of the frame rail, indicating it was delivered as a V-8 with dual exhaust and 4-barret carburetor. The frame is not a * "one piece" tubular "California Frame" that some cars were produced with. This is the two-piece wielded frame that was supplied by GM.
*(The one piece frame was a Box-Tube piece provided by some of the subcontractors to GM. The AO Smith Company was one of these subcontractors. Some of these tubular frames were supplied to assembly plants when production at the GM frame plant was backlogged and extra frames were needed.)
Most of the glass has been replaced, the only two date coded “original” 1955 glass to be found on the car at this time are the two rear quarter windows that have a date code of “TX” which is August of 1955. These two may not be original. If the buyer would like, it is possible to order a complete set of properly coded replacement glass for National judging.
Great attention to detail has been exercised in the restoration. The chassis and all components have been correctly detailed and restored to original specifications. Each item is refinished as original including the red-oxide on the underside of the floor and rear axle center section. All hardware, springs, steering components are correct in fit and finish. The body has all correct trim and matching numbers. Proper re-assembly is evidenced by the use of correct restoration hardware including weather strip, attachment clips, wire harness, and body gaskets. Even small details such as the front fender to splash apron "anti-squeak" gaskets are correctly installed. All engine compartment decals and service information are intact, tire pressure decal, owner’s manual, & jacking instructions are in place as original.
This car is the best of the best and is now being offered for sale by DT Auto Brokers
