Project started when we found a manual transmission low-option 2 door Biscayne in Colorado. The car was straight and virtually rust free. Besides it’s lightweight it had the important three-pedal pedal box to be used with a three or four speed transmission.
You are bidding on a project car that we’re sadly unable to finish. The project was inspired by the light-weight, big displacement, full-size Chevy Biscayne‘s described above.
Body work is complete. Paint (1966 Chevy Madeira maroon) is 95% complete requiring only a re-spray of one rear wheel arch. The historically correct drive train to drop in would have been a 427-4 speed. However, we had a chance to build the drivetrain with the included a 1972small block 400 to be either a 383 or a 400. The eternal big block vs small block discussions rage on.
A TH350, a three speed manual transmission and a 12 bolt rear end are also supplied. The project was stopped before we could obtain the intended four-speed transmission.
The project includes numerous new parts including inner fenders, hinges, latches, front bumper, brake lines, weather strip, headlight surrounds, and more. A set of aluminum wheels is also included. The car is all there except the rear seat back, the gas tank and the original six cylinder engine.
Too numerous to list all, but the major remaining parts include:
Under-dash air conditioning parts
Mounting plates and dust shields for a front disc brake conversion.
Inner fenders
Bumper brackets
Extra trailing arms
Steering column
Extra brake drums
Fan shroud
Radiator fan
Air cleaner
Two air conditioning compressors with brackets
Extra steering linkage
Brake discs (2)
Coil springs, front and rear (2 sets extra)
Seat belts and trim
Tail light assemblies
Radiator support
Radiator and condenser
Refinished and polished front bumper, grill and facia
Front fenders, wrapped separately in packing blankets to protect the new paint.
The engine is a 400 CID small block from a 1972 Caprice. The engine is separate from the car, and runs.
All hardware is bagged and labeled (see photos). A notebook with meticulous notes and restoration photos is included.
This will make the right buyer a satisfying build and a terrific cruising machine.
Buyer will be responsible for any packing and shipping.
