The 1977 Chevrolet Camaro was a 2-door coupe with a base price of $4,115 and equipped with either a six- or eight-cylinder engine. In the front were disc brakes, with finned drums at the rear. It had a variable-ratio power steering, wraparound taillights with bright moldings, a coil spring front suspension, a leaf spring rear suspension, dual-speed windshield wipers, and a wheelbase that measured 108 inches. The six-cylinder engine was shared with several other models within the Chevy lineup, including the Malibu and Malibu Classic, Nova, and Impala. It was an inline, overhead-valve, 250 CID unit that had seven main bearings, an 8.25:1 compression ratio, and delivered 110 horsepower at 3,800 RPM. The base eight-cylinder engine was an overhead-valve, 305 CID (5.0-liter) unit that had 145 horsepower and 245 lbs-ft of torque. A larger 350 CID (5.7-liter) unit was available, bringing horsepower to 170 hp and 270 lbs-ft of torque.
