1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 150/210 4Dr Hardtop

Looking for your next classic car project? This ‘56 Bel Air 4Dr Hardtop is the perfect foundation for a great restoration or custom - exceptionally complete and relatively rust free!

BODY/SHEET METAL/TRIM: It is important to note that Montana, although a state of four seasons, has relatively low humidity and does not use salt on its winter roadways. For this reason, vehicles that have spent all or most of their life in the state (as this one has) seldom fall victim to the same cancerous rust that is experienced the further east you travel across the country. This fact is evident in the photos of this vehicle. The exterior sheet metal is very solid and shows only surface rust in areas where sanding was begun or the paint had weathered. Typical areas of concern - eyebrows, lower portions of front fenders, door bottoms, rocker panels, quarter panels, trunk lid, and area beneath the trunk lid – are extremely solid and only in need of minor repair if any at all. As is evident from the photos, the seats and the carpet have been removed (seats are included but the carpet has been discarded) so the floor is visible for inspection/photos. The interior floor as well as the trunk floor are both extremely solid. There is an area needing minor repair in the driver's side front floor where the driver’s feet naturally rest - an area common for collecting snow and water. The grill, light bezels, bumpers, and trim pieces are all complete and in good condition.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION: This vehicle rides on its original frame and suspension components. As referenced in the comments above, the climate of Montana is one of low relative humidity and no salt. As a result, the frame is also extremely solid and free from any visible corruption due to rust or any other cause/factor. The original suspension components are complete and the vehicle rolls and steers nicely without hindrance. Service/restoration is advised prior to regular/prolonged driving. Original wheels. Tires are suitable for transport.

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/DRIVE-TRAIN: This is a V8 Bel Air with manual transmission and floor-mounted shifter (originally this was an automatic car). The engine, transmission, and drive-train are complete. The engine turns over, but does not run.

INTERIOR/GLASS: The interior of this vehicle is appropriately characterized as “extremely complete.“ While I am hard-pressed to think of any missing component, I have not cataloged every knob and lever. The dash - the more rare, optional padded dash – is complete and free from corruption or mutilation. The headliner is complete and intact. As can be clearly seen in the photos, the carpet has been removed so as to allow inspection/photograph of the floor. The carpet has been discarded. The seats have also been removed, however, they are included and complete but in need of re-upholstery. The glass is complete. The windshield and back glass are both in good condition. The side glass may have a crack or chip periodically throughout, but is all flat and easily cut at a local glass shop.
