1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Additional Info:
Here is a real find. A Silver 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS with maroon interior, all original, elderly lady owned since new. Car was bought here local and has remained here in the south under a car port and in a garage it's entire life. So a true, rust free survivor. A friend of mine's mother was the original owner until her passing. Below is a brief description:
Exterior: Silver paint still shines like you wouldn't believe to be a 35 year old car, it still wears 95% of the original paint. Right quarter was scratched and refinished when it was new, did a great job, looks original. It now has a crease in it right above the stripe. One tiny ding in the front fender. I believe a good paint less dent guy could make both look 90% better without painting them. All the stripes are in super shape and not peeling.Underneath is amazingly rust free and dry. T-tops, to my knowledge, have never been out of this car at all. Again, she was elderly and I know for a fact she didn't take them out. Grille paint is chipping a little and a small scuff under the headlamp. 8 out of 10.
Drivetrain: The 305 engine cranks right up with no problem, no smoke or rattles of any kind. I try to keep it cranked and driven a little, but it has sit most of it's life, hence the crazy low miles. Transmission shifts in and out of every gear as it should. Rear end is quiet, no problems with the running and driving of this car at all. Muffler has a slight leak where the pipe goes into it, not loud, but annoying. Last inspection sticker was over 20 years ago. lol. Factory Monte Caro rally wheels. Tires are old school Eagle St, they are starting to dry rot, so I don't drive it far. A/C blows cool, not cold, it's original, so I didn't want to mess with changing it to 134 and re-charging it. Compressor comes on and everything, so it functions as it should. Heat is hot. Power windows and locks all work still. Interior is an easy 9 out of 10.
Interior: There isn't much to say about the maroon interior, besides immaculate. Front seats perfect. I'm almost positive no person has ever been in the back seat. To be a 35 year old car, it's so nice. Dash is perfect with no cracks or warping. The only thing to pick on the interior is the headliner at the back where it meets the glass is falling some. Upholstery guy here local said he'd recover it for $70 because it's so small. Door panels, carpet, etc, all in beautiful condition. 9 out of 10.
In closing, you will be hard pressed to find an SS with almost all original paint, super low miles, and that has not been raced, wrecked, yanked, jerked, ditched, rusted, or just totally destroyed over the years. I know what these are, and what they are bringing now a days, so please, no silly low ball offers. I will however, entertain realistic ones and end the auction early. I have been a body tech for over 30 years, so I know what a nice car is, and this one is a true original survivor, but it is 35 years old, not perfect, but pretty damn sharp. If you have any questions, or would like additional pictures of anything specific, don't hesitate to ask. Third party inspections are also welcomed. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at auctions end. Thanks for looking and take care.
