1967 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
Although the C10 most commonly identifies as the half-ton, short-bed pickup, it came in different styles. The C10 featured a 115-inch wheelbase for the pickup equipped with the 6.5-foot bed and a 127-inch wheelbase for models with the 8-foot bed. Chevy sold pickups as a chassis and cab that required buyers to custom-fit their choice of beds. Other styles featured the Fleetside, or flat panel cargo box, and the Stepside, which had the rear wheels outside the bed and a step mounted between the cab and wheel wells. C10 models also included a panel truck and the Suburban sport utility vehicle.
Here at Classic Auto Mall on consignment is this customized Chevrolet C10 pickup from 1967. Some reworking on the front end, shaved door handles and rear bumper and a new stretchy tonneau bed cover are just a few of the tasks performed on this custom. Truly unique, truly cool, and quiet the runner, all buttoned up and ready for the big dance, and to put a smile on a new owner's face.
Exterior
Probably the most obvious change for this example is the customized front end. The rectangular C10 grille has been completely removed, headlights and all, and now reside behind a custom body matching front end. Round headlights have been replaced with rectangular, and just below this new creation front end is a body matching white painted bumper. Yes, the body is all white, clean, and shaved of any badging that may have existed. Just a few dings on this straight steel paneled truck, on the passenger's side near the door and rear quarter. All good though with nice gaps, black trimmings for window surrounds and black sport side view mirrors. The rear cargo area is looking used without a respray like the exterior, but still presents nicely. A black insulated canvas snap on bed cover is now attached and allows goods to be put into the bed and stay dry. The rear bumper has been shaved and original taillights are flanking either side of the bed. 15-inch polished wheels wrapped in Challenger Regal Sport black walls, 225/70R15's for the front, and 275/60R15's for the rear.
Interior
Nice white door panels in white vinyl and painted metal with black painted door actuators and window cranks, pave the way for your entry into the cab. Here you'll find a long red tuck and roll tweed cloth bench with smooth vinyl bolsters showing some cracking on the sides. The original dash has been stripped away, and now a smooth aluminum flat dash with a plethora of black faced Autometer gauges peppers this panel. In the center of this bench on the floor is a B&M shifter floating in a sea of gray carpeting which is very clean. A black padded dash top adds some contrast to the interior upfront, as does the original C10 steering wheel in black. The headliner is all metal and white, and as we move to the back of the cab, a rounded tinted glass window lets you see out back and check on the cargo when the tonneau is removed.
Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 is now installed and is fed by a 4bbl Edelbrock carb through an Edelbrock Intake. A TH350 3-speed automatic is on back and a 12-bolt rear is the rear axle setup. Looking good under this hood with a new master cylinder, hoses, and fan, with new wires, and newer carburetor.
Undercarriage
From the engine we see headers feeding clean piping to Flowmaster exhausts, drum brakes on all 4 corners, and independent coil springs for front and trailing arm with coil springs on the back. Some slight surface rust underneath, but well cared for and structurally sound.
Drive-Ability
It took to the test track like a fish in water, where it showed good acceleration from the 350 4bbl, smooth braking, tight handling, and even a smooth ride at a cruising speed. All fine for the test drive.
Some snazzy customization for the unique front of this truck, shaving the chrome looks nice with the theme, and some black accenting does it a solid. Interior is good, a custom dash, new gauges, glass, and B&M shifter on the floor, and we are ready to go haul...some ass!
