I can assure you this is a once in lifetime opportunity to own a true piece of American automotive history. I believe it would be virtually impossible another car like this exists or that you will ever find another car like the one you will see here today. Unrestored, original condition with only 6356 original fully documented miles. This 1970 Monte Carlos story is just as special as the car itself. This car was a demo car for the mother of a local car dealer here in Richmond Virginia. The car is still titled in the dealership name and has been that way all of its life. Now it is available for sale to the public for the FIRST time since it was delivered to the dealership in 1970.

Story

This car was delivered to Hechler Chevrolet here in Richmond Virginia and 1970. It was then given to the mother of the owner of the dealership to drive as her personal car from 1970-1975. It was gently used by here during that time and accumulated a grand total of 6000 miles. Yes you heard me correctly, I said 6000 miles. From 1976 until the present day it has only been driven an additional 350 miles. 50 of those miles were put on this past weekend out test driving the car. For years it sat in the showroom of the dealership on display until it was moved to the heated and cooled facility of the sons’ home. He had the car displayed in his private collection until now.

Documentation

The car retains all of its original owner’s manuals, the original warranty brochure to include the warranty car or protecto-plate as some call it. It has the original inspection tickets where the car was inspected up until 1976, the last time it was inspected, showing the mileage on the car. The original sales sheet that was written out to the mother who drove the car and copies of the original title that was issued with the car. All of the documentation is what it is, one look at the car and you will quickly realize this car is as original as the come.

Paint and body

The car retains all of its original factory paint, it has never been spotted in or repainted anywhere. It is as original and unmolested as you would expect from a car like this. The car has ALWAYS been stored inside and out of the elements and the paint quality on the car verifies that fact without question. There are a couple of nicks and scratches here and there, but I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams you will find an original paint car nicer than this one. It’s not happening. All of the chrome and bright work on the car are in exceptional condition. The headlight are original and it still retains its original dealer insignia on the tail pan.

Drivetrain

This car retains all of its original drivetrain and it has never been removed or molested. It is optioned with a 350 cubic inch small block 2 barrel carb producing 250hp. It original 3 speed automatic TH350 transmission is still in place. It runs and drives just like you think it should. The only items I believe to have ever been replaced on the car is the battery, the tires (back to factory dual white line but radial tires). I also believe the water pump has been replaced and in the 70’s the belts were replaced. I looked at a service record included in the documentation stating it had the belts replaced. The belts are GM and are from the 70’s. All of the hoses, clamps and everything else under the hood is original. It even retains its original exhaust system.

Interior

The interior in the car is spectacular and just as original as you would expect it to be. What sticks out other than the upholstery is the bright work inside the car. All of the bezels, dash, A/C vents are perfect. Again, the car was always stored indoors so the sun never had a chance to deteriorate any of the finishes on anything. The carpet is flawless just like you would imagine it would be. It has the original accessory mats still on the floor and the little trash disposal behind the console. One of the other incredible things is the original 8-track tape that was provided my Chevrolet to demonstrate the 8-track player. Yes the radio still works. The only thing I believe to be non-functional is the clock, it does not appear to be working.

The trunk area is the same as the rest of the car and it is original and untouched. The spare tire and jack have never been removed from the car and are still in the original location.

Summary
