1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 Additional Info:

True #s matching, real Z-28. The 302 is built to factory specs, it's a beast! Frame off restored while retaining a lot of it's originality. It has been claimed the 3,478 miles are original. There are many clues that indicate that could be true. Whether the miles are original or not we can not verify. Regardless, it is certainly a very authentic Z with a lot of original qualities. It was an original car taken apart for many years. The collector we acquired the car from bought it apart and restored it.
EXTERIOR: Other then a 1 time exterior paint job, it is original. It has it's original metal in excellent condition. It was born code JJ- rallye green without a vinyl top. Professionally painted, the stripes are smooth to the touch. Has spoilers. They purposely left the jambs the original paint. Bottom of the doors have a clean edge. Weatherstrips were replaced. The chrome and trim on the car is original in very good shape. It has all four of it's original 15 x 6 rally wheels. Code DF is stamped by each valve stem, used only on the Z-28. BFG tires are excellent.
INTERIOR: It is original! Only the carpet and drivers door panel were replaced. The original door panel is included. It has its original tire pressure decal on the inside of the glovebox door. This helps authenticate it's a real Z because it lists the wheel as a 15x6, only used on a Z. It really is excellent inside. The dash chrome sparkles, headliner is tight, upholstery is not worn. It has the optional gauges including tachometer. The shifter was upgraded to a Hurst, the original Muncie is included. Dome light and light at the back of the console works. I'm looking at a very well preserved dash area. Has original radio, wood grain is real nice, heater controls slide smoothly. It has it's original GM seatbelts including shoulder belts.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The dates, casting and vin stamp match up to this car. Built to factory specs with 11.5:1 compression, solid lifters etc. This runs like a Z should- a bat out of hell! Correct intake, correct ignition shielding around the spark plugs. Proper spring clamp battery cables. The radiator, shroud, clutch fan all looks and proper. Has reproduction GM stamped hoses with reproduction clamps. Original open element air cleaner and chrome valve covers. The squirters are hooked up, has the hood insulation. It has the correct deep groove pulleys, because it's a high revving engine. You don't want the belts the fly off! It also has the correct cadmium plated power brake booster, master and lines look new. It has a new engine wiring harness.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Super clean original metal. I've looked up in here with a flashlight, it has original quarters with no splices or seams. They actually have a lot of the original factory spatter paint still on them. It has the correct rubber mat. Rally wheel with a new BF Goodrich for a spare. It also has the jack. Bottom of the trunk lid is the original green paint, with original jacking instructions sticker. It does he have new weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: The front suspension and steering was rebuilt and detailed. Has correct spiral shocks in back. Fuel system was replaced- tank, straps, insulators, sending unit and lines. New correct exhaust system with transverse muffler. Brakes were redone, has disc in front. New e-brake cables, hoses and lines. Bottom of the motor is spotless, has new starter. The Muncie 4-speed is vin # matching to this car. Looks fresh including the linkage. Has posi rear. The floors appear to be clean original metal. The bottom of this car is painted neatly and looks fresh.
We did not price it as a 3,500 mile Z but it sure does have characteristics of a very original car. It is certainly rebuilt to Z specs, just hearing confirms that. This is a great example of a legendary car!
