I AM A DEALER WITH MORE THAN 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE SPECIALIZING IN 1967-1970 GM CHEVROLET MUSCLE CARS. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2020 FROM A MAN IN FLORIDA WHO HAD OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 1992 (28 YEARS).
THIS CAR WAS BUILT AT THE GM NORWOOD OHIO PLANT ON THE 4TH WEEK OF MARCH 1967. IT WAS BORN FROM GM WITH SOME GOOD OPTIONS SUCH A V8 ENGINE, CENTER CONSOLE FLOOR SHIFT, BUCKET SEATS, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, DELUXE CUSTOM PARCHMENT INTERIOR (PARCHMENT IS WHITE) AND THIS CAR IS BELIEVED TO RETAIN STILL ITS FACTORY SEAT COVERS AND DOOR PANELS, WHITE CONVERTIBLE POWER TOP, TINTED WINDSHIELD, AND POWER STEERING.
THIS CAR HAS HAS RESTORATION WORK IN ITS LIFE SUCH AS: NEW INNER AND OUTER QUARTER AND TRUNK PAN. NEW FRONT UNI-FRAME BODY BUSHINGS AND SHOCKS, NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP, NEW THREE ROW RADIATOR,AND A NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. IT HAS ALSO HAD ONE OR TWO NEW BALL JOINTS AND OTHER MISC ITEMS SUCH AS NEW FUEL TANK AND SENDER. MANY ARE PRICED OVER $50K OR EVEN HIGHER FOR FRAME OFF RESTORED CARS. EVEN HARDER TO FIND ONES THAT ARE BELIEVED TO STILL RETAIN SOME ORIGINAL AND SPECIAL/RARE OPTIONS. ENGINE PART NUMBER IS 3914678. THE DATE CODE ON THE BLOCK APPEARS TO BE J 17 7, I DECODE THIS TO BE OCTOBER 17TH, 1967. THE STAMPING ON THE FRONT PAD OF THE BLOCK IS LIGHT AND I HAVE SANDED OF THE PAINT TO TRY TO MAKE IT OUT. I CAN SEE V02 WHICH DECODES THAT THE BLOCK WAS ASSEMBLED BY GM AT THE FLINT PLANT AND IN FEBRUARY. THIS CAR'S BODY WAS ASSEMBLED IN MARCH 4TH WEEK. I HAVE READ THAT MOST IF NOT ALL THE HIGH PERFORMANCE SMALL BLOCKS CAME FROM THE FLINT PLANT AND THE LOWER PERFORMANCE SMALL BLOCK ENGINES CAME FROM THE TONAWANDA PLANT. SO IT SEEMS ITS GOOD THIS CAR HAS A FLINT ASSEMBLED BLOCK AND A DESIRABLE DATE CODE THAT APPEARS TO BE OCTOBER 17, 1967, ASSEMBLED BY GM IN FEBRUARY AT FLINT. THE ENGINE BLOCK PART NUMBER 3914678 COMES BACK ACCORDING TO ONLINE RESEARCH TOOLS DECODING AS USED FOR CAMARO, CORVETTE, AND CHEVELLE 302 Z28, 350 AND 327 ENGINES. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS A GM PART NUMBER 3905393 AND IT IS DATED A 31 7, DECODING JANUARY 31ST, 1967. IT IS A 4-BARREL INTAKE AND IT DECODES ONLINE AS USED FOR 350 295HP CAMARO SS AND 327 275HP ENGINES. THIS INTAKE WAS CAST AROUND TWO MONTHS BEFORE THIS CAR'S BODY WAS ASSEMBLED BY GM AT NORWOOD SO ITS PROBABLE THIS INTAKE IS THE FACTORY BORN INTAKE TO THIS CAR.
THIS CAR WOULD LOOK AWESOME WITH A NEW SET OF REDLINE TIRES VS THE WHITE WALLS. I CAN ADD THOSE TO THE CAR FOR AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE. ALSO CAN ADD REAR SPOILER FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE IF DESIRED.
