1978 Chevrolet Caprice Additional Info:
1978 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Sedan ONE OWNER FROM NEW 5.7L 350ci V8 / 3spd Automatic Two-Tone Beige on Beige Velour 75,000 Actual Miles F41 Sport Suspension VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 1N69L8J125182 We purchased this beautiful ‘78 Caprice Classic locally, from the son of the original owner. He informed us that from October 1977, when this car came home from the dealership, until earlier this year, when his father passed away, this car has been absolutely adored and always garage-kept. His father took great pride in the car and exercised it regularly, accumulating almost 75k summertime miles over the course of his forty-three year ownership. As it sits today, this car is a seriously impressive survivor that is ready to be used and enjoyed straightaway. Exterior: This car appears to retain much of its original paint, with just the lower gold portion showing any signs of previous paint work. Paint presents very well, with no visible run or peeling or anything of the sort. There are a handful of small chips that have been touched-up, as well as some wrinkling of the polished wheel flare trim. Please take a look through the photos and watch the video, as cosmetic condition is covered in detail. The plastic filler panel strip in the rear shows its age, glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Chrome is excellent – mirror-like, with no oxidation or damage. There are a couple little dings on the car, particularly on the passenger’s rocker trim. No rust bubbling on the body panels, this car is seriously dry and straight. Panel fitment is spot on, doors open and close nice and smooth. Interior: Beige/gold velour interior presents very well. Nothing more than minor wear from 75k miles of driving. No burst seams or punctures. Driver’s seat has power adjusts, passenger is manual. Rear seat is excellent. Carpet is very nice, still plush and without any discoloring, pilling, or shedding. A pair of tan floormats will come with car as well. Dash has one crack, just about in the center. Wooden dash face looks great, no hairline cracks or damage. Gauges are all functional, as are all lights and signals. Odometer reading is actual and we watched it tick over 75k while putting some highway miles on it recently. AM/FM radio is functional and sounds great, power antenna works as well. Heat/fan is good, wipers are good, trunk release button is good. Air conditioning was converted from R12 to R134a in 1999 but is no longer functional. Analog clock still works. Headliner is clean and tight. Sunvisors hold their position. Under the Hood / Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is shown in detail. Suuuuper nice underneath. A highlight of this car for sure. This car was Ziebarted when new and it has served its purpose. No evidence of any previous metal work, just nice and clean black metal underneath. The car runs and drives very well. We’ve put a number of miles on it, both city and highway. Amazingly smooth and quiet, this car has excellent road manners. It starts right up, idles nice and steady, stays cool, shifts smoothly and on-time, and brakes straight and effectively. Ready for routine driver duties. Sold with original title and owners’ manual.
