1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Additional Info:
You'd think people would get tired of Chevelle SS coupes, but the fact is, these are flat-out AWESOME cars in almost every way. There's a reason they sell so quickly, and this 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu with a strong 454 big block engine and a cool color combination is an excellent example of why.
Turquoise Metallic paint and white stripes pegs the desirability meter when it comes to bowtie performance, and this car is certainly solid and straight enough to show it off with pride. The paint is good driver quality and has that deep, wet shine that comes from modern two-stage urethane, and there are no signs that it's been used and abused since it was restored. Nice bodywork emphasizes the crease that runs along the body and makes the fenders look especially aggressive, and you can't have a car like this without a cowl-induction hood and hood pins. Hard to say if it's a real SS without a factory buildsheet, but at this price point it doesn't really matter, does it? You're not looking at this car because it's a concours showpiece. No, you're looking at it because it looks nasty and someone's already done all the hard work for you. There's a proper blacked-out grille up front, SS badges all around, and shiny chrome bumpers that look great against the high-impact turquoise paint.
Black buckets, a center console, and a few nice options make this Chevy an easy sell, too. The upholstery appears to be an older redo but uses factory patterns and materials for an authentic look, and other than some concentrated damage on the driver's seat, the rest of the interior is very solid and presentable. There are also matching door panels and plush black carpets below, and the horseshoe shifter that splits the seats will always be the coolest way to pick your gears. The instrument panel is full of SS-spec round gauges that include a rather tachometer, and an additional set of black-faced auxiliary gauges was installed under the dash to monitor the vitals. A 3-spoke steering wheel anchors the cockpit, the original dash helps keep things looking clean inside, and there are big speakers on the rear package shelf just waiting for you to pump some tunes through, selected of course by the original AM/FM radio tucked into its factory slot. With this car, you also get a spacious trunk finished with spatter paint, and if you're a stickler for details, then you can inexpensively add a larger plaid mat to finish it off like the factory would have.
The big block under the hood of this 'Bu is a 454 cubic inch mill that's been built up with a fairly sizeable cam and is nicely detailed to show off. Even with a factory rating of 250 horsepower it's relatively tame, so it is very user-friendly on the street, but the Holley 4-barrel carb adds instantaneous throttle response at just about any speed. Chevy Orange paint looks as brilliant and a few chrome pieces make it truly shine. Other newer parts include chrome valve covers, an Edelbrock Performer intake, and a big aluminum radiator that keeps the 454 nice and cool. Long-tube headers help the big block breathe through a true dual exhaust system that sounds incredible through throaty Flowmaster mufflers, and the pans and frame are very solid and presentable thanks to a coat of satin black paint. A quick-shifting TH350 3-speed automatic gearbox manages the gears and spins a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end, while a big rear sway bar helps this A-body handle. For the price, you'll be incredibly pleased with how tidy it is underneath and it sits right on killer 17-inch Boss Motorsports wheels wrapped in performance Cooper radials.
This Malibu has got the look and the hardware to back it up. It's easy to see why they sell so quickly, so if you like this one, don't hesitate, call today!
