1984 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:
You are bidding on an a used 1984 Chevrolet Corvette. Here is why I bought this car and why I am selling it.
When I was around 3-4 years old, I always told my parents I was going to one day buy a Corvette. Fast forward to my 16th birthday (1987), when I was able to drive, I was ready for my first car. I was looking for a Honda Civic, that was what I could afford at the time. While walking through the used car lot, my dad an I ran into a 1984 Corvette just like this one. I couldn't afford it, and my dad couldn't afford it but together we bought it 50/50. It was the happiest day of my life. I drove that car for 10 years. Fast forward to 2017, once my son started to drive, he wanted a Jeep Wrangler but I bought him a reliable Honda Accord and promised him, once he graduated high school I would buy him a Project Jeep so we can work on it together and bond as father and son. While killing some time last year, I ran into this 1984 Corvette for sale. WOW, just like the one I had in high school!!! Same year and color!!! I said to myself, how cool would it be for my son to drive the same car I had when I was a teenager so I bought it for him. We can bond working on this just as much as a Jeep! Unfortunately, my wife did not want our teenage son driving a sports car. I decided to keep it to see if we could change her mind but no luck, so after a year of begging, we have decided that we will go the Jeep route. Now lets talk about the car itself.
When I bought the car, it ran rough. It drove but felt like a bad spark plug / missfire. I replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. It ran better but still a bit of hesitation. I then replaced the fuel pump and the car ran smooth. (see youtube video link below) I was excited we got the car running, however, when turning on the car the next day, it started the hesitation again but this time a bit different. The car would turn on smooth as can be, but when accelerating, the car would turn off. That is the state of the car now so whoever buys the car, will have to tow it away as it will immediately turn off once accelerated.
Here a few facts- The car definitely needs a paint job- Power steering is not working- AC is not working- Dashboard / interior lights do not light up- Tires are in good condition- Leather seats are in good condition- I have historical receipts from the previous owner as shown in the photos- I will consider a trade for a Jeep Wrangler that also needs some TLC
Message me if you have any questions or if you want me to take any specific photos / videos of the car and I will send them to you.
