Up for bids is a 1993 Chevrolet S10 Long Bed pickup truck. It has the 4.3L V6 engine, an automatic transmission, and is a rear wheel drive truck. Truck runs good and drives good. The miles are unknown, the odometer/tripometer both do not work. I did not attempt to resolve that issue. All other gauges work, as does the speedometer. It is a basic truck, tan interior with manual windows, and manual locks, but does have power brakes, power steering, and a touch screen Pioneer radio(not factory, haha).
Upon getting this truck, it was discovered that the original engine had a spun rod bearing or some other bottom end engine issue, so the engine was going to need replaced. This engine was replaced with a 4.3L V6 from a 1995 Chevrolet S10 that waswrecked. This engine has just over 100,000 miles on it and it runs very good. The alternator and battery were also replaced. The AC does not work, but all the components are there. I did not investigate why the AC works. In general, the HVAC system needs some work. The HVAC systems in these trucks were not the bestfrom the factory, and this one is no different. The blower motor does not seem to move any air. The heat gets hot, and you can feel it in the vents, but itdoes not blow out much, if any air.
The body is in pretty good shape for the year. You don’t see many first generation S10s innorthern Indiana anymore. With that said, there is some rust on the truck. But it is sporadic. The rockers, cab floors, cab mounts, bed supports are all ingood shape, still very solid. There is a some spots here and there on the doorsand bed sides, but once again, no rot. The right rear bed side is the worst, but there is no serious rot. The tan paint is old, probably original. There are some knicks and dings here and there, but nothing serious. You could wet sandand buff it, and it should shine nicely. The bed cap is a plain jane cap, it works as it should.
As for performance, this truck runs and drives good. The engine has good power, the transmission shifts through all the gears as it should. There does not seem tobe any pulling from the steering when driving or under braking situations. One thing that may need some attention are the shocks(especially the rear) could use replacement, but the ones that are on there are fine for now. There are nocheck engine lights or any other warning lights coming on. Has good oil pressure, does not overheat, and does not over charge. Fuel gauge works fine too. Tires are in good shape too, 60-70% tread. Exhaust components are functioning as they should.
The interioris in fair shape. This is a 27 year old truck. The plastics are showing their age, especially the dash pad. The bench seat does have some cracks in the vinyl. The door panels are faded. The sun visors vinyl material is tearing or gone. At some point, someone rigged up a head liner. It’s a little saggy, but it is there. The weatherstripping needs replaced. The windows work as they should. No cracks in the windshield. It’s got the vinyl floor coverings. It isn’t fancy, but it still works. That flashy Pioneer radio looks a little out of place, but it does work fine.
In conclusion, this 1993 S10 is not a bad little truck. If you aren’t a fan of all the technology in all vehicles, and just want something basic to get around inand do some truck activities in, this would be a good option for you. I wouldnot hesitate driving this truck anywhere for any distance.
In any case, truck is sold AS-IS, WHERE IS, HOW IS.
