Vehicle Overview
1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE COUPE-MATCHING NUMBERS-ONLY 14,805 MILES-BUILDSHEET-PROTECTOPLATE-BOUGHT BY MY DAD IN 1969-FRAME OFF RESTORATION-PERHAPS THE FINEST IN THE COUNTRY AND PERHAPS THE WORLD !!!
You are viewing a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette T-top coupe with a 427/400 H, Matching numbers,Tripowered car with an M20 4 Speed Wide Ratio Gear box. As you know all 1968 thru 1970 coupes have removable rear glass to give you that convertible feel when the T-tops are off. I have all the original T-top bags the car came with new to safely store the T- tops in the rear compartment. Before we go any furthe, I want to let you know that this car is the "REAL DEAL". If you are in search for the absolute finest Corvette of this era consider your search over.
The car is finished in its original Fathom Green Metallic exterior with a Saddle leather, this car is among the finest examples in the world with only 14,805 ORIGINAL MILES. It is also the only one I have seen for sale with Factory A/C as I was told there were only a handful produced with a 427 Tripowered engine. The car has a recent NCRS 2nd flight award with very little critique for top flight. The car scored an 88.1, please see sheets in photo gallery. The color Fathom Green was so period correct, as a nation we were at war in Vietnam as our troops wore these very colors.
The car was produced by GM on 11/05/68. The original selling dealer, Wilson Niblett Motors Ltd. in Richmond Hill, Ontario which is code 408 in Zone 95, which was in Toronto Ontario suburb as my uncle was living there at the time but falling ill, the car was ultimately sold to my dad as we were living in D.C. where I was born. I have the original POP ( protection plate ) which identifies the very home I grew up in as a child, as this car has family history for 48 years.
I lost touch with the car for 40 years and had the good fortune to have relocated it which is simply incredible. I have childhood memories of my father spending weekends with his longtime friend Dr. Henry Kissinger, who became our 56th Secretary of State. The two spent many times whipping around D.C. in this very car. The story of this car is worthy of a magazine article but would prefer to keep it quiet as the story has the potential to go absolutely viral.
My father who was an employee for the State Department for 50 years eventually sold the car in the mid 70s, as there were 5 of us children fighting for passenger position. The car finally made its way to Arizona and was owned there for many years by a man named Hal Biestek. I have every document which will support what I am telling you here. Remember the car has only 14,805 original miles. I have had several experts look at it and they all conclude that the odometer is accurate.
More importantly you must remember that the car has Factory Air and it blows ice cold just like the hot summer days in D.C. where it would cool us down. Very few of these were built. There are believed to be around 30 cars with a big block and Factory Air in 1969. If you ordered the 435 hp car A/C was not available. This car has all matching numbers and its original to this car. All numbers have been inspected and verified by the NCRS judges. Please see the photo gallery to see much of what I am telling you here. Did I mention the Posi-Traction rear end, or the side pipes to the list which never stops on this car.
The car was sold at Russo and Steele in 2011 for $50,600 plus a 10% fee. It was purchased by Jim Keras Chevrolet in Memphis,Tennessee who did the frame off restoration several years ago. They did spend in excess of $75,000 to use as a showpiece for their showroom. That is where it sat for a number of years until it got sold to Biestek, another friend of the dealer.
As I member of the NCRS club, I then located the car and could not ever imagined the car would emerge in my lifetime. The car won many awards thru the years. I even have the plaque it won back in 1994 at a Concourse show on May 18th 1994 in Michigan. I have all the original Manuel's from 1969 as well as other literature including the original brochure as well as other ORIGINAL literature. The car was then judged by NCRS and I have all the hand written scoring sheets as well as its second flight award certificate. The mileage was verified at that time back in 2010. I found the original build sheet in a box of memorabilia as shown in the photo gallery. I am offering this car to the eBay community only. It is not for sale in any other venue.
Mechanically the car runs incredibly well as the clock even works as well as its factory A/C. Everything appears to be working as it should. Here is an attempt to list the options. Saddle leather trim, 400HP tripowered setup, 4-season Air conditioning, Positraction, AM/FM stereo, Power Windows, Side mounted exhaust pipes, Tilt and telescopic, Power Steering, Speed warning indicator, and so much more. The car was produced on 11/5/68 and shipped out to its dealer.
Needless to say I have the original tank sticker/build sheet along with its protectoplate along with countless other documents such as original NCRS judging sheets and more. Every number matches perfectly as it should, the car might be one of the finest examples for sale in the world.
I had a Corvette expert verify the match of all the numbers on all its components. The car would grade at this point as a 90 or better as I have done a minor refresh to bring it back to showroom standards. I have spoken to the folks at various auctions who all want it badly but I think I have the ability to sell it on my own using eBays selling forum. Barry Goldberg 561-251-7077. goldbergbarry@msn.com
