1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups Pro Street Additional Info:
It's time to say hello to the ultimate in fun. This 1956 Chevrolet 3100 is a Pro Street truck with an aggressive all-red appearance that's backed up by a killer big-block with a connection to a motor legend. And they really though out the details on this built to make sure you can bring the power to the pavement.
Famed engine builder Jeff Kerns created a custom truck just for himself, and so there's no way anyone will mistake this Chevy pickup for a workman's ride. Where there once was chrome up front, this one stands out with its full-blooded bright red appearance. And because the badging is deleted up front, it really takes advantage of showing off the power bulge this truck had built into its hood from day one. With most other details finished in red, including the bumpers and bezels, it really draws attention to remaining largest piece of brightwork: the Weld Racing Draglite wheels. So you really take note of the forward-leaning stance and how massively tubbed the rear end is. And as you check out the custom work in the Rhino-lined bed, and the rear-mounted fuel cell give you more hints at how serious this pickup is.
While the exterior is all about showing off power, the interior adds some comfort into the mix, too. You get upgraded leather bucket seats with a high-back construction and power lumbar support. There are more handy features like cup holders and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. This keeps you feeling good while you get down to speedy business. There's a Grant wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, full AutoMeter gauge package, toggle switches, and a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter all to give you a tingle of performance. And the huge AutoMeter Sport-Comp tach w/shift light is mounted high on the dash so it's always easy to see.
The dark engine bay funnels your attention to the bright and powerful heart in the middle. For most trucks, a regular big block V8 upgrade is more than enough fun, but on a pickup this well built, the 454 motor was enlarged to a massive 468 cubic inches for maximum enjoyment... and the power upgrade doesn't end there. This V8 is a full build by Collins Dyno Service that includes 10:1 compression, Comp Cams .510 lift hydraulic roller cam, roller lifters, roller rocker arms, MSD ignition, fabricated valve covers, Edelbrock Air Gap RPM aluminum intake, and topped with an Edelbrock 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor. Even the heads were done by Jeff Kerns for maximum performance. Headers add even more power while contributing to the rumble of the Flowmaster dual exhaust. This powerful powerhouse is mated to professionally-built TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. The power is then sent to a limited-slip Ford 9-inch rear with 31 spline Mosher axles and 3.89 gears for powerful and confident take-offs. The ladder bar rear end with QA1 coilovers help keep the massive Hoosier rear tires planted. And up front there's an upgraded Camaro front end with power disc brakes and power steering.
