About the 1973 Chevrolet Corvette:
The third-generation Corvette represents the final year of chrome bumpers, as well as, the only year for the chrome rear bumper and color-coded rubber front nose combination. These were implemented due to new federal 5-mph collision safety requirements along with new side-impact door beams for additional safety. Changes also included further improvements to the chassis mounts, along with the addition of a sound deadening material on inner panels made for superior sound quality with less vibration from the road.
