1966 Chevrolet C-10 Additional Info:
1966 Chevrolet C10 Pickup Final Year First Generation Half Ton, Long Bed, 127” Wheelbase 350ci V8 (1969), Powerglide Automatic Transmission VIN: C1546J124650 C: Rear Wheel Drive 15: Half Ton, Long Bed, 127” Wheelbase 4: Pickup Truck 6: 1966 Model Year J: Janesville, Wisconsin Assembly Plant 124650: Vehicle Number 350ci V8 Truck Motor, 4 Bolt Main, Dated 1969, #3932388, Head #3927185. 2spd Powerglide Automatic Transmission. We purchased this ‘66 Chevy C10 Pickup out of Missouri, where it had been with the same owner since the late 2000s. The truck had sat for the last five years before we got it, so it could use a once-over before becoming a daily driver, but as it sits now the truck does run, drive, and stop quite well. We like this truck for a number of reasons, but what’s really great about it is that nice enough to park in town and feel proud of, but at the same time it isn’t so clean that you wouldn’t want to use it for dump runs or for carrying equipment – actual truck duties. With the long bed and strong-running 350 V8, this makes for a useful, purposeful pickup. Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the truck is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. Blemishes include bubbling on the outside of the tailgate, some paint blistering just above the door handles, as well as a few scattered chips and scratches. Body is nice and straight. Trim pieces are in nice shape; not oxidized at all, but the mid-line trim does have a few little dings. Paint is B-level. Cleans up nicely with a deep color and great shine, but upon close inspection there are a couple little spots where we can see tape lines (see white mid-line stripe under trim piece). While the truck is now red, the trim tag tells us that the original color was turquoise (RPO 540). Bed is in great shape, with no rust, damage, or significant scuffs. Wheels are in good shape, but the tires are older and should be replaced. Not flat-spotted, but there is some visible dry rot on the fronts. Glass and light lenses are clear and crack-free. Front and rear bumpers are in good shape, with minimal oxidation and no noteworthy damage. Weatherstripping is in very decent shape, not dry rotted. Windshield wipers have been removed but will come with the truck. Doors, hood, and tailgate all open and close smoothly, but the crease on the driver door gap is larger than it should be. Interior: Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior is pretty bare-bones, but it’s in really nice shape. Silver and red two-tone vinyl bench seat is in great shape and complements the exterior well. No tears, burst seams, significant scuffs, etc. Dash is very nice and the gauges are all functional. Odometer reads 43,734 miles; true mileage is unknown. Black carpeting is pretty clean, with no major fraying or discoloring. No floormats. Blaupunkt radio is of course not original, and is not functional. Fan and heat are good. No air conditioning, no power steering, and roll-up windows….a proper classic pickup. Mechanical / Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the truck is shown in detail. Underbody looks pretty good. Some surface rust on various components... nothing concerning. There is evidence of prior rust repair – the front cab floor supports have been replaced and the new pieces still show their stickers. The truck starts right up, holds a nice steady idle, pulls hard and with no stuttering or hesitation, brakes straight and effectively, and sounds great. Front brakes are grabby at parking lot speeds, good when on-road. We’ve changed the oil/filter, fixed some wonky trans linkage, and begun to add miles. With a fresh set of tires this will make a sweet, sweet driver. The truck does have cherry bombs too, so it’ll crackle and pop on deceleration – see video for a sound clip.
