This 1965 Chevy Chevelle is simply one of the nicest we have ever seen. The attention to detail, it and finish and numerous high end touches are only seen at higher end national shows. The car was built as a product display vehicle for Arc Audio for the SEMA show and only has 160 miles since completion. It is clean as a whistle from top to bottom and you could have a fine dining experience off the undercarriage.
The car was built in California using a solid West Coast car and was stripped down to bare metal prior to the restoration. The body work on the car is impeccable and no matter where you look. The bottoms of the doors, very little jam that is often lightly passed over is highly finished on this vehicle. Every surface that has paint was expertly sanded and buffed. The firewall of the Chevelle has been smoothed and has a mirror shine. The frame was completely deburred, moothed out and then powdercoated to a high gloss finish. The bottom of the car was body worked to slick everything thing out, eceived a light coat of bedliner and then was matched to the body color. Every suspension component on the vehicle was either painted or powder coated before reassembly and the car simply sparkles underneath.
The interior is completely custom from front to rear. Prior to installation of any interior components, t received Dynamat from top to bottom. The custom made dash houses a Koval insert which houses a set of Auto Meter Carbon Fiber gauges. The steering column is a chrome tilt unit which holds a Billet Specialties steering wheel wrapped in corresponding interior material. The door panels are done in ABS plastic and feature custom speaker pods. They were then custom wrapped to finish the look. The front seats are custom Glide units and are comfortable for the long haul. The rear seat is custom made as well, s are the rear panels that house additional custom speaker housings. The audio system consists of a Kenwood double DIN, qualizer, yn Audio and KAR speakers, Robert Zeff amps, Arc subs and video monitors in the seat backs. The trunk is fully finished, nd house dual amps, tool kit and two Optima batteries. Underneath the trunk are dual charging posts and a remote shut off switch.
The motor is a 355 built by Motor Machine of Carmichael. It makes over 400 HP with a mild cam and has been balanced and blueprinted. Cooling the motor in an aluminum radiator with electric fans, nd Zoops pulleys and brackets run the components. The intake is a Edelbrock with a 1406 carburetor and the motor exhausts through a set of Sanderson coated headers and a custom ceramic coated exhaust. The transmission is a turbo 350 with a 2200 stall converter and a modified shift kit. The rear end is a 12-bolt with 3.55 gears. Keeping the passengers extra cool is a Vintage AC unit with controls located just above the radio. The lines for the AC are beautifully run and enter through a bulkhead in the firewall.
The car drives as smooth as silk running on a suspension that has been completely rebuilt from front to rear. 4-wheel power disc brakes bring the car to a halt and modern tires and Bon Speed rims provide an updated ride. Turn the key and the motor falls into a smooth idle and the motor produces a nicely tuned exhaust note. The Chevelle rides as smooth as any modern car and the interior is as comfortable as you will find anywhere. For the custom car enthusiast, his car will win at big shows and blow the competition away at local shows.
