1969 Chevrolet Chevelle 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 / 350hp 4-Speed Manual 69 Additional Info:
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396ci / 350hp This pristine 1969 Chevelle SS396 has had a recent frame off, nut and bolt restoration! This car was built by Dave Birdwell, the "Chevelle Doctor", and the restoration was completed in 2012. The car was delivered to the owner at the last Chevelleabration! The body was a solid foundation, and received new quarter panels and fenders, the remainder was original. It is refinished in code 52, Garnet Red base coat clear coat, and looks amazing. It was originally a black bucket seat car, but when restored, was changed to Parchment. The complete interior is from Legendary, and includes a new U14 dash with correct tach and gauge package. This is a radio delete car with blockoff plate. It has tilt steering for easy access. The bumpers are beautiful rechromed originals, courtesy of Tri City Plating in Nashville. All other trim is reconditioned original, and is presented here in beautiful condition. The frame and all suspension components are powdercoated in the correct satin black, and all bushings, ball joints and brake components are new. The car was built with a 12 bolt posi rear with 3.42 gears and smooth shifting Muncie M20 making it dependable and very drivable around town as well as on long trips. The transmission was completely overhauled by one of the country's top experts, and has a Hurst Competition Plus shifter, with an original Muncie handle for better performance with correct looks. The engine is a 396/350 hp, Coded JC for a manual transmission and underwent a complete overhaul during restoration. It is not the original engine to this car, but they did use as many components as possible that are date coded and correct to the car. It has a Crane electronic ignition hidden in the distributor for ease of operation, and the distributor was custom recurved for this application. Internally, the only deviation from stock is a Lunati cam, part #10110421, which has .498 lift on the intake, and .503 on the exhaust. It idles smoothly at the spec'ed 800 rpm, and has plenty of vacuum for the power brakes. The carb is a correct Quadrajet, and was custom jetted for this engine by the same builder who did the distributor. It was recently removed for a cleaning and re-gasketing and is functioning as intended, including the choke. The car has a Gardner exhaust system, and sounds just like 1969! Rolling stock are the original YA coded 14x7 wheels with F70-14 Firestone redline bias ply tires, including the spare, with jack and correct trunk mat. No expense was spared in the building of this car, anyone in the Chevelle community knows Mr. Birdwell, and his title of "Chevelle Doctor" is rightly deserved. It has had 726 miles put on it since completion and is still absolutely stunning. This is a real "L" code trim tag car making it an original factory SS vehicle from the Kansas City plant. Build quality alone sells this car. Clean and Clear Ohio title. This car has been inspected and is ready for a cross country trip. Turn key and everything works as it should.
