1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Additional Info:

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

In 1966 Chevrolet conceived a totally new platform car for 1967 to be named Camaro, from a slang French word meaning "friend." Chevrolet was getting beat out of many sales with the bad publicity that came from the Corvair, as well as the popularity of the Mustang. The Camaro was deemed a "pony" car (meaning long front hood, and short rear deck, with power). This new car was offered in many platforms for the largest appeal to a wide audience, from basic to a race car and definitely escalated Chevrolet sales, and created a classic.

For consignment a very nicely done Camaro from 1967. Great color combination, and snazzy interior bathed in red. Throw on a convertible top, and we are out for a cruise.

Exterior
The original Ermine White has been sprayed over with what is now silver. Steel panels are straight, gaps are good, and paint presents nicely with very few inclusions or dirt. A dual wide black stripe runs the length of the hood where chromed air intake vents are inserted into the long pony hood. Moving toward the grille, it is badged with SS, although it was not born an SS. The badging, brite-work and trim chrome appears in good condition. Original Camaro wheel covers are on all 4 corners. A black canvas convertible top appears clean and un-torn, and the rear plastic window is not clouded over. That black stripe continues from the top through the trunk lid and over and around a rear spoiler to the rear panel.

Interior
A swing of the vinyl covered door panels, reveals shiny red vinyl bucket seats in very nice condition. These flank a center console, with a glove box, and Hurst shifter which sits in the center of a black textured plastic insert into the console. The dash is original and restored and it looks clean. The iconic deep round gauges front an original steering wheel. Very RED carpet in good condition floods the floor.

Drivetrain
According to the decoding, the original 6-cylinder engine has been replaced by a 1970 CNW 350ci V8 which is shoehorned into the restored engine bay. Nice red paint covers the block, and chromed air cleaner cover, and valve covers add bling to the under the hood repackage. Atop, we see a single 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, and intake manifold. A Saginaw 3-speed manual transmission is bolted to the back of the 350 and shifts smoothly.

Undercarriage
Independent front suspension, and rear mono leaf spring are seen underneath. As is a 10-bolt rear, traction bars, and 4-wheel drum brakes. A note there is severe right rear frame rust damage which goes up into the trunk area. Areas of the floorpans are rusted through as well, but new inserts have been put inside to cover the holes. Also, lower doors at the rocker area have been sprayed over rust with black paint.

A nice presentation of the exterior and interior, a replaced and upgraded engine, carb, and intake manifold, respray, a rear spoiler, and wide black racing stripes. The rear frame rust through needs attention to make this car structurally sound.
