We have been restoring, buying, selling, and trading classic cars for 40 years. We sell project cars starting with ones that need everything, all the way up to fully finished and detailed ones, and everything in between. This one lands in the "project" category because we weren't building a show quality item, but a driver quality. We consider it not finished because we decided not to do the bed, for several reasons. One of them being going over budget. The other reason was because we have been here before, and as sure as you go with a step side, someone will say they want a fleet side, and vice versa. We consider this a really nice truck, but not a perfect truck. It is, in our opinion, better than just a driver, but definitely not show quality.
Originally we were not planning on doing much, but as we began working on it, it just snowballed. The paint was not originally going to be paint, we were going to just put it in primer or satin for selling purposes, and let someone else take it from there. We use single stage paints, sometimes as a primer and a guide coat, so we can see every single flaw, and then remove those flaws and finish painting. We stopped at spraying it with the single stage enamel because we were surprised at how good it looked, and thought why not just leave it as a driver quality paint job.
Alot of the work that was done as far as the welding and body work, was done by the previous owner. We bought it to resell, and just got caught up in making it nicer and nicer. The previous owner installed the new floor boards, rocker panels, cab corners, steps, and the majority of the welding. It was done okay, and we went in and found anything we didn't like and repaired it. But 90% of the welding was done by someone else. Most of the cab had been straightened and primed when we got it, and we just basically wrapped it up and shot it.
The front clip, with the exception of the hood, is all brand new. We believe the doors are original to the truck. The truck has all new glass, new regulators inside the doors, weatherstripping, outside and inside door handles, quality aftermarket tilt column. Under the chassis disc brake master cylinder, with vacuum booster. The engine has a nice streetable cam, and the transmission has a special 4x4 converter, specifically for trucks. It works great, and the truck runs and drives great. All lighting is brand new and works. New power steering box.
There are a lot of details that can be brought up to anyone who is interested in the truck.
