Here's a classic that's sure to bring a smile to your face. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a great looking muscle car that's had the good fortune to maintain its numbers matching configuration over the past half-century and features that ultra-appealing Rally Sport appearance that drew crowds at Chevy showrooms across the nation during its era. It's running strong and retains its original interior, where you'll find the original owner's manual tucked neatly away inside the glove box to... provide some historical perspective. The exterior now wears striking Frost Green Bolero paint that's been properly decked out with the white RS stripe circling the nose of the car. The shade graced quite a few classic Camaros back in the day and since it was an option on the Chevy color chart during this era, it equips this one with a thoroughly authentic appearance. The color is a great match for this classic as it stands and a comprehensive detail will really bring out its best. The front grille houses the signature hideaway headlights that were one of the primary attractions of the RS appearance package and the overall exterior alignment is in good order - check out just how well the hood matches up with the fenders to either side and how tight and even the gaps around the doors and deck lid are. The exterior fittings throughout also present well - both the front and rear bumpers are in fine shape, as is most of the body trim - and the added aftermarket wheels provide a tasteful touch of customization to the largely factory style this Chevy proudly wears. You'll find an appealing gold interior just inside the doors - the very same one that was on board as this Camaro first hopped off the assembly line. Considering it has yet to have seen the inside of an upholstery shop, the overall condition of this driving environment is pretty darned impressive. Both the front buckets and rear fold-down bench seat have held their form well, as has the factory center console, which houses a signature horseshoe shifter. The matching carpet lining the floor still has plenty of life left in it and while the headliner isn't quite as fresh, there's a new one included with the car. The dash area features factory gauges in its cluster that still function as intended, along with a contrasting dash pad that's free of any splitting. At the center, an aftermarket AM/FM radio has been added to provide your audio backdrop while on the road. The engine compartment remains in its natural state. Everything beneath the hood is orderly and from all appearances the 327 cubic inch V8 at the center - almost certainly the same motor this Camaro drove off the showroom floor with - has never left the car. Despite its survivor status, something it shares with many other components on this classic, the small block is running nicely, fed by a factory 2-barrel carb and teaming with a period correct 2-speed Powerglide transmission to make for a solid vintage drivetrain. Power steering makes navigation easy, as this iconic muscle car cruises the asphalt on its set of 15" Cragar SS wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials that appear to have plenty of tread remaining. Below, the undercarriage has come through the years in strong fashion - you'll see some of the expected patina but the foundation this Chevy rides on is straight and sturdy. With its combination of road-readiness and impressive originality, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS presents a very compelling opportunity. Call today!
