1955 Chevrolet Bel Air
Imagine a car so popular that a new term came to be, based on that design. That name is Tri-Five, which refers to 1955, 1956, and 1957 Chevrolet automobiles, in particular the Bel Air, 150, 210 Sedans, and the Nomad. With beautiful proportions and new skins each of those successive years, and a thorough peppering of chrome, these cars produced in this time became iconic. From all original to highly modified versions, many Tri-Five clubs have sprung up to showcase individuality, originality, and the beloved Chevrolet concepts of Harley Earl and his team.
This gorgeous 1955 Tri Five is truly immaculate. One must go over it with a fine-tooth comb to find any fault with this spotless restoration. Since that time, the consigner states that the car was never driven in the winter or bad weather and laying your eyes on this you will believe it!
Exterior
A two-door hardtop with factory straight panels, and gaps to match, makes use of the steel and a few areas of detectable filler, but a nice job was done overall. PPG base coat and clear coat cover the Gypsy Red highlighted by Shoreline Beige. New weather stripping, a new windshield, and dual mirrors were put on during the restoration. New bumpers, and new grille in front is framed by 2 LED modern headlamps. Badging is correct as well as aluminum brightwork. Pristine would best describe this exterior overall. Wide whitewall radial tires wrap steel wheels with standard Bel Air hubcaps.
Interior
A Cars Interior kit, matching the exterior combination shows 2 flawless period style benches sitting in a calm ocean of red carpet. Rubber matching floor mats are protecting the carpet underneath. The Iconic Chevrolet 2 bump dash in red with a pattern cut bowtie repetition in aluminum cuts through the center. Both glovebox and instrument cluster "fan shapes" reside under the bumps in the metal dash. Steering wheel is a new 15" wheel and has no cracks or faults. The headliner is pristine, and all interior lights work!
Drivetrain
A 350ci crate motor bolted to a T.H. 350 automatic transmission shows an aluminum pan, and flywheel cover. Power is transferred to the rear wheels thanks to a 3.55:1 differential. The mill inhales through a K&N air cleaner, and exhales through Jet coated headers, and a 2-1/2" exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Polished valve covers make the power plant gleam in the pristine engine bay. Consigner states that front suspension is all new, as well as a front sway bar. Power brakes have been put on for extra safety.
A very nicely restored to a tasteful color combination Chevrolet first year Tri Five. Modifications are big, but curb appeal yields an almost original looking example. Well cared for, this favorite toy was well played with, but put away nicely for the next time.
