Sometimes you see a car that stops you in your tracks and makes you think! This 1957 Chevrolet 150 Delivery is one of those vehicles. This is a vehicle that even makes some knowledgeable enthusiasts say "a 1957 Chevy what?" The Window Delivery is neither a Nomad nor a Handyman wagon and was often special ordered for fleet use. According to the owner, this gorgeous example was one of 92 ordered by the government for fleet use. This car saw... use as for the Soil Conservation Services section of the United States Department of Agriculture before being sold to the public. Prior to restoration, when this car was found the original Dept. of Agriculture lettering could be seen on the car, as shown in the pictures. Repainted during the restoration back to its original Olive Drab color, the owner of the car opted to have the government signage reproduced on easily removable door magnets. With the restoration completed in 2015, this car has traveled just 1,122 miles since it was built! Sitting on a classic set of GM Rally wheels, this wagon has a unique stance. It has a great look to it, and the upward-opening rear hatch coupled with only two doors is sure to draw a crowd and create some confusion at any event. The inside has been kept largely true to original form-perhaps the only way to go on a unique vehicle such as this. Adding to the directly utilitarian look of the car is the single bench seat in place, with the entire rear of the car being dedicated for cargo space! We think this is a really cool feature, because it is rare that you see a utility-purpose vehicle like this restored to such a high degree. The only major variation from the original interior look is the addition of a Custom Autosound aftermarket radio that looks original, but functions like a modern unit. Originally a six-cylinder three-speed manual car, someone took it upon themselves to change this bad boy over to a 283 V8 and 4-speed manual long before the current owner restored it. The drivetrain components were gone through and rebuilt during the frame off restoration. This car drives like a dream, and has plenty of power to get up and move! Driving this car is a blast simply because you would never expect a wagon to be this much fun. Additionally, it has power steering, a dual reservoir master cylinder, and 3.08 rear gears. This car looks great, sounds great, and is definitely something nobody else has! Whether you've been searching for one for a while, or you're simply looking for a Tri-Five Chevy that is totally unique and different, this Window Delivery may just fit the bill! With ample rear cargo space, tons of rear visibility, and unique history, this is a one-of-a-kind car that would be great for a fun weekend cruiser.
