1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Additional Info:
One owner 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with only 17,308 original miles. A true 'Barn Find', that has not been on the road in 20 years. I'm listing this car for a family friend, that was her mother's car. It was always garaged kept, and has been sitting in the side 'barn' for 20 years. Vehicle is in amazing shape, with one fairly large 'surface' rust spot on the drivers door (possible door ding/scrape, that has 'ballooned' outward over the last 20 years). Undercarriage/frame seem very solid, along with the floors from what I could see looking under the car (car was on ground and not on a lift, where it would be a lot easier to inspect condition). Car has power steering, power brakes, cruise control,AC, AM/FM stereo, tilt wheel, duel sport mirrors & two tone paint. Her plan yesterday (8/16/19), was to just pull the car from the barn, wash/vacuum and list 'as is' here on eBay. I suggested that if the engine was not 'frozen', she could expect a higher price, so I brought along a battery to see if the engine would at least turn 'over'. I checked the oil level (full, no leaks detected on barn floor), and connected my battery. To my and the surrounding audience (neighbors had come over to see the car hidden for decades), the vehicle did turn over nicely on the very first try. I then proceeded a few more times of turning over the engine, to help get the oil 'circulating' through the engine. I was curious to see if the engine would actually start and run, so I set the choke (carburated engine) by pressing the accelerator to the floor, and on the very next 'start', she fired right up. I drove her out of the barn, and unfortunately, the brake line running under the drivers door gave way. The car will need to be gone through, before she is ready to be enjoyed again. Here are some of the items that will need replacing: battery, brake lines and tires (I believe they are original), along with all fluids and filters need changing and replacing. Feel free to call (please leave message) and I will return your call as soon as possible with any questions you may have. (585 360-5913) She has set a very conservative reserve for the car (I believe the car will sell for twice her reserve). I will gladly pass along her number, so you can get the full history of the car from her.accuser
