1974 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:
This is a 1974 Corvette with matching numbers engine and Muncie four speed transmission. Last year of the big block Corvette. I've owned the car since 2007 and it was completed in 2009. Since then I've only put about 2,500 miles on the car. The motor was rebuilt by a shop for the previous owner with a Demon 850 carb, Edelbrock Torker 2 intake, headers, cam, Mach 1 serpentine belt and pulley system and MSD ignition. The motor is really strong and has a great lumpy sound to it. It has M/T drag radials on the back and BFG radials on the front - all in good shape. The transmission shifts well and the clutch works perfectly. The car has power steering and power windows. It originally had A/C but the 2 owners before me pulled it all out when he was going to make a drag car out of it. The car was painted in 2009 and still shines real nice. It looks really good when the sunlight hits it. The car is a lot of fun to drive and always gets lots of compliments. It runs strong from stoplight to stoplight. All gauges work except the clock, it runs sometimes but stops other times.
The bad:It does have a scratch on the right rear bumper where it was backed into. It also has light scratches on the right rear quarter and the right rear deck that I tried to polish out but it left a dull spot. These 3 areas are all circled in red in the pictures. The car currently has a 4.11 rear gear in it. The rear end makes a grinding noise when coasting (a little louder when in gear then when in neutral or the clutch is pressed in). I believe it is the rear pinion. It does come with an extra rear end as shown in the picture. This rear end would need to be rebuilt and swapped. I believe it is a 3.08 gear in that rear end which would make the car much easier to drive on the highway. It currently turns almost 3,500 rpm at 70 MPH. The carpet could use a deep clean or replacement. There is no neutral safety switch or reverse light switch. The horn doesn't work. The headlight doors aren't working again...it is a leak in one of the vacuum hoses. The mileage reads 79,800 but the speedometer wasn't working when I got it. The speedometer works now. The mufflers are getting pin holes in them near the front and will need to be replaced eventually. My plan was to have them raise the exhaust pipe where it passes under the rear end at the same time. The pipes hang really low under the rear and scrape sometimes.
If I was keeping the car I would have the rear end rebuilt and swap it out. I would also wire up thermostat switches for the 2 electric fans. The fans are currently on toggle switches and have been for about 7 years. That is all the car currently needs. The rest of the stuff is minor and can be fixed down the road.
Pick up in person with cash payment or I will meet with your shipper and help load the car. The car doesn't go anywhere until I'm sure the payment clears. $500 deposit is due through Paypal within 48 hours of auction end. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end.
