1959 Chevrolet Other Pickups Additional Info:
Up for auction is my 1959 Chevy Apache Fleetside Pickup. I have owned this truck for about 20 years and it has been a joy. This truck came to me by way of Arizona where it spent its life. I have never driven the truck in the winter and it has always been placed in a clean, dry garage from October to May. This truck is a very nice driver -not a show truck. I would call the paint a 20 footer with all the charactor of a truck used and loved over the years. The truck was repainted at some point over the years. The paint does have its scratches, chips and weathering like I said. The truck is solid underneath too. The truck has a perfect running 235 Stovebolt 6 -no smoke, quiet idle, no issues. Starts and runs great every time. I installed an alternator and pertronix ignition but have retained the original generator parts for the next owner. The 4 speed transmission with that granny 1st gear shifts well with great clutch action. The truck still retains its original foot starter, vacuum wipers, steel wheels and hub caps and rear bumper - things that are often missing on these trucks. Tires are Goodyear Workhorse radials that have 90-95% tread remaining. Brakes work as they should stopping straight and true. Emergency brake works also. All lights and electricals function as well. The truck just passed New York State Inspection with flying colors. I have never been afraid to drive this truck to Home Depot for a board or two or across the state. With highway speeds as they are I don't go on the interstates very often. The only thing that doesn't work that comes to mind is the odometer, it stopped at 80,000.3 miles. I took it apart and found a broken plastic gear - I hung onto it for the next owner. So mileage is unknown. All and all a nice truck that I hate to part with!
