1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Additional Info:
A very clean 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS up for auction. I am listing this for my father. Car is titled/registered in Pennsylvania. Car is currently located at my residence in Hubbard, OH (where it is stored over winter).
Notables:
> LT-1 (350) motor from 1995 Trans AM, Performance Tuned Chip (from SLP Engineering), with Corvette covering
> 4L80E transmission from 1995 Trans AM, Transmission shift upgrade servo
> 3:73 Rear Differential
> Dual electric radiator fans
> FlowMaster Exhaust / Dual Mufflers / Dual Catalytic Converters
> New Fuel Tank and Pump
> New aftermarket Wheels and Tires (approximately 2,000 miles)
> Custom Headliner (subtle SS logo)
> Interior almost mint! Driver's seat and front carpet shows minor wear. No rips or tears!
> Body: NO BONDO. Rear quarter panels replaced, driver's side floor and body mounts repaired, fiberglass cowl induction hood (original hood included - painted to match), custom paint
> Air condition works
> Power Steering
> Manual Windows
> Power Locks
> Power Brakes
> Tinted Windows
> Tilt Steering
> Approximately 79,XXX miles on car, approximately 48,000 miles on motor and transmission. Car is occasionally driven to local car shows. Mileage may continue to increase.
> Aftermarket stereo (CD player / Tuner, speakers).
The not Good, but not really Bad:
> Most notable are the paint scuffs on the both front bumper corners (see pics). There is also a spot right beside driver's side headlamp. To correct, will need to be sanded and resprayed.
> Both rear bumper corners also could use a little attention (see pics). ALL ISSUES WITH PAINT are in regard tot he paint! There is no rust, dents, etc. to the metal/plastic.
> Radiator core support was cleaned and painted when motor was dropped in. The bottom of the core support shows that there was some rust - again, it was cleaned and painted, but does not look showroom perfect.
> Interior driver's door panel has three small spots, or more like dots, just above the window crank. Don't know how they got there, but can not clean them out (see pics).> Motor does have a leak out of the rear main seal. Not major. Will leave a puddle the size of a quarter after driving.> Motor does have a subtle tapping sound when running. Assuming one of the valves or lifter is the culprit. Never too bothered by it and determined too involved to fix at this time. This condition occurred 12 years ago when the car was purchased by current owner, and it hasn't gotten any worse.
> If the car sits too long, transmission fluid will leak out from around the speedometer sensor on the transmission tail housing. Theory is that if the car sits too long, the fluid starts to drain out of the cooler, which is mounted higher than the rest of the transmission fluid lines/transmission. If the car is driven at least once a month, no fluid leaks. Cannot think of any other reason why the leaking occurs.
Remaining comments:
> Once in a while there is a rattle that comes from what appears to be the driver's front wheel well when driving over bumps. Suspension bushing may be going bad, but it has been this way for the last several years and have yet to confirm or remedy.
> Engine compartment is clean. It is functional. Some time may be needed to make it show-room perfect. This is my opinion....
> Car rarely sees rain and has not seen winter since current owner (approximately 12 years).> Car runs on 92 Octane. Very well maintained.
> Starts right up and runs very well. Very comfortable to drive. Can reminisce of the 'old days' with the big cars that floated on down the highway. This car has that feeling, with the addition of a little power to get you moving.
Selling conditions:* Auction Winner (purchaser) is required to contact me within 24 hours of winning bid to clarify/establish payment and pick up.
* A $200 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF END OF AUCTION VIA PAYPAL. I may forego this option if purchaser is picking up the car in person within said 48 hours. This to be determined after discussion.
* CASH IS THE ONLY FORM OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED UPON PICKUP. I will not sell this car to anyone that does not come in person to look at the car. This is a used car with imperfections. I do not want to let this car go without the new owner knowing everything about it.
If you have any questions, please contact me via ebay email. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT TO LOOK AT THE CAR IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BIDDING.
I've tried to honestly document the condition of this car. There may be other items not listed above that I've missed - this is another reason why you should come to see the car.
There is a reserve. If you'd like to make an offer before auction ends, contact me via ebay email.
