For auction is a vary rare and original 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It has the 265 horsepower 400 small block engine. A total of 159,341 Monte Carlos were produced in 1970, the first year of Monte Carlo production. Of those, only 1,680 were equipped with the 400 small block option. This was called the LF6 option.
The car is Tuxedo Black exterior, Saddle Tan interior, and came with a black vinyl top. The interior has the original bucket seats, console, and the gauge package, the carpet and mats have been replaced. The headliner and seats are in excellent condition for a 49 year old car. The driver's seat bottom does have a popped seam on the left side.
This particular car was assembled in Van Nuys California in September 1969 and shipped to a dealership in Michigan. It was a one owner car until the early 2000's where it was in Iowa.Since then it's currently in Cleveland. It has had one re-paint in the 1990's. The vinyl top was removed at that time but was an option when car was born.It still has great shine and is super straight. There is one small paint chip on the edge of the hood next to the driver side fender.
It has the original, born with, factory installed engine, transmission, and rear end (numbers matching). This corresponds to the build sheet and confirms its originality.
The car includes the factory original build sheet from the Van Nuys California plant. It was found behind the back seat. It shows all of the options. It contains the VIN number as well as the body number (same as the body tag), proving that it is the original build sheet for this car and that the car is in fact a highly optioned car.It has the deluxe seat belts, power locks, tinted glass, power windows, roof drip moldings, wheel opening moldings, vinyl top, recessed windshield wipers, windshield with built in antenna, air conditioning, remote control driver's mirror, center shift console, 273 axle ratio, power disc brakes, tilt steering, power steering, heavy duty battery, mirror lamp, gauges with tachometer, power locks, clock, the ultra rare rear window defrost. It has the convenience light package which includes lights in thetrunk, engine bay, glovebox, and ash tray.
Everything works on the car except for the clock. The driver side power window button has been acting up (loose wire?).I have the keys to the ignition and trunk, glove box and center console, but not the doors.I bought period correct blanks that will go with the sale. The air seems to blow cold but I normally rode with the windows down. The compressor does engage. The paint looks good for it's age.I cannot see any rust. There are no soft spots at the window corners. The car runs and drives well. It does not smoke and there no funny engine sounds. The tires show good tread and are raised white P205 75 R15's on the correct rally rims. The brakes are like new all the way around. It has new shocks and tie rods.It has newer exhaust on it as well. The glass all appears to be original. The original push button radio is still in the dash, but a newer cd/radio was added in its own console so not to destroy the originality of the dash.
This is a true numbers matching, relatively unmolested with it's born with factory-installed drivetrain that includes the original factory build sheet documenting its originality. It is also highly optioned and dressed in the most desirable color combination out there. This car has been stored and protected from the elements.
I bought the Monte Carlo 12 years ago and only put 500 miles on it. The odometer currently shows 62,000 miles.
This is an opportunity to own a blue chip Chevy muscle/luxury car that is only going to go up in value. Late 60's and early 70's muscle cars this original and complete are getting very hard to find.It can be driven and enjoyed as is, put away for the future, or restored to perfection. Everything is there.
The car is sold as is with no warranty.Again this is an original factory installed engine, trans, and rear end highly optioned car. I encourage you to come inspect the car yourself. I am ok with a paid inspection as well. Keep in mind this is a 49 year old piece of automotive art. I am sure I am leaving out some detail that would be important to some buyers out there but I am doing my best to list it honestly so you are happy when you get it. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can keep it safe until pick up for you. I prefer cash, cashier's check, or wire transfer. Please ask any questions you have.
