This rare school bus is on a Chevy 2 1/2 ton chassis / Superior body with 8 side windows. It has been in Arizona for all of it's life. There is light surface rust where the white paint has come off (easily removed with a DA sander),and the entire body, especially underneath and the front clip,is virtually rust free. Never any road salt with this one! Dimensions are 8 feet wide and 29 feet long.
It is identical to the 1955 Chevy/Superior bus that was usedin the Partridge Family show in the 1970's, and could be easily painted to match that one.
It has a quiet running, replacement 283 small block, with the original top end. Will include a548casting numbers 1957 block (if wanted). It was built with a 283+ 4 speed transmission+ twospeed rearend as original equipment. It came with an optional rear heater. Everything is original, except the front glass, and is minus the seats.
My plan was to restore it, but I had to move last year and do not have a place to make thathappen, so it is for sale to someone else to do what they please.
There are six brand new 9x22.5 10 ply tires, with less than 100 miles on them (cost $1800). It runs fine, but is not road worthy at this point. The electrical system and brakes need to be restored. The missing outside rail piece, as seen in one of the pictures, is inside the bus. It is not dented, but was removed to repair one of the fluted side panels underneath a window. It has all the front inside stainless hand rail partsand passenger panels as well.
It's perhaps the last of it's kind, that is still operational, and would make a most interesting vehicle to take to any car show in the country! It is currently licensed with a clear title, and ready to go.It is buyers responsibility totransport the bus.
A non-running matchingSuperior body parts bus, is availableat scrap metal price. Please email with any questions. Thank you.
