[I ORIGINALLY LISTED THIS CAR AS A "210" BUT IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT IT IS ACTUALLY A "150" MODEL. APPARENTLY YOU CAN TELL BY THE FIRST LETTER OF THE VEHICLE SERIAL NUMBER.] -
I bought this Classic '57 Chevy 20 years ago and it has been garaged or under cover for all of that time. The gentleman I purchased the car from had painted it and recently had the headliner replaced. My intention was to restore the Chevy completely, but as is sometimes the case, life gets busy. That said, I have done some work on the vehicle over the past years. The gas tank was replaced about 15 years ago. I have additionally replaced the clutch and the brakes. Three years ago the oil pump was replaced. My son and I also recently replaced the glass and the furring in the passenger side window and vent, but that is the only window in which the furring was correctly replaced. Prior to our work on the passenger door windows we had a mechanic replace the furring on the other three door windows, Although the windows on the remaining three doors are functional, the mechanic did not take the furring strips all the way into the door panels. We believe the correct way to re-fur the windows would have been to take the furring strips all the way into the base of the channel inside the doors. (let me know if you need a better explanation of that!) The speedometer is disconnected and the fuel gauge and the vacuum windshield wipers are not working. The odometer reads 74,383 but it no longer turns so we are not sure on the exact mileage.
The body is straight and the glass is all good except for the driver side window which is cracked. The rear wheel fender skirts are working and included with the car. The doors all shut solid. And, as far as we know, the car is all original.
In addition to the cracked driver's side window there are numerous, nicks, dings, scratches and small spots of rust — All normal wear for a car this age. The undercarriage and frame have very minimal rust. The driver's side floor pan did have a rusted out hole, but it has been replaced with fiberglass. The motor has been tuned and runs well, and a new battery was recently installed.
The car is quite drivable, has been inspected, and has a 2019 windshield sticker.
I drive it locally, but I would not venture too far with out a new set of tires. Bottom line, It starts and runs but it is an old car looking for someone to treasure it with time.
