This is a very nice example of the iconic 63 Impala SS 409. The body lines are all good and thecar presents very well. The 409 dual carb engine in theImpala was an affordable high performance engine and sold to those who could not afford the big block Corvettes of that same year. The 409 was first introduced in 1958.

In 1963 GM redid their 409s to be 11.0:1 ratio and they upped the hp to 425 with 425 ft lbs of torque. This car had its engine bored .030 over in 1993, so we are not sure just what the horse power is now.

In 1993 the engine went through a complete rebuild. The block was decked at the time and there are no numbers on the front pad. It is very possible this is the original engine. The receipt for the Crane Cam states it is the replacement for the factory Mark IV 409 hp 409 ci in camshaft.

The receipt shows all new parts that went into the engine and it was completely freshened up.This included:Grinding and polishing blockBalancedNew pistonsNew rings and bearingsNew push rods and rocker armsAll new gasketsand more

Just within the last 2 months the carburetors were completely rebuilt and the engine fine tuned.

There are several sites that have different translations of the accessory codes. Some sites say the 2L is a Fischer body number 2 being the group and L meaning a Muncie 4 speed either M20, M21, or M22. They also say that 3Z is representing group 3 Z being Super Sport. We'll let you decode this tag and see what you find.

The trunk is in excellent condition. There is no sign of rust and there is no evidence of any quarter panels ever being replaced on the car.

The taillight bezels all appear to be original as does the trim on the car.

This appears to be the original rear end housing, correct for this car. With its posi rear.

The glass is original and all in very good condition.

This is your opportunityto own a really fun car that will bring you back to 1963. It looks and runs great and can be shown proudly at any show.
