1956 Chevrolet Other Chrome Additional Info:
I was told by a guy at Danchuk(where you buy parts for the Tri-Five Chevys) that the 4 door 'Hardtops' were fairly rare. Doesn't have the post in between the front and rear doors. I've had this Chevy for 20 yrs. and have put 1,000 miles per year on it since I had it. It now has 108,500 miles on it. My Father-in-law rebuilt the 283 cu.in. motor before I bought it and it has run fine since I've had it. It has a 4 barrel carburetor on it and initially was an automatic transmission which he changed to a manual 3 speed on the floor. The paint job is also 20 yrs. old but I have had this car garaged under cover since I've had it. It has a padded vinyl dash which I was told by a car guy that was a rare option back in 56. The interior is in good shape and so is the body. I have put rechromed bumpers and new tail light set ups($500 each) on this car. Has Cragar mags around and one in the trunk spare. Has dual exhaust also. I had the brakes all redone(still on drums though) and the transmission worked on about 4 yrs ago. Windshield has a couple really small chips that have been repaired and there is a small chip in paint above rear driver side wheel. None of this is hardly noticeable. I use a 20-50 wt. oil in it. This is not a show car and never intended for it to be one. I wanted something I could drive. Still has the armstrong steering. If you like driving these old classics, you'll like this car!
