For sale is this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. This car was built in Van Nuys, CA and based on the VIN number was built in October 1968. That makes this an extremely early 1969 Camaro. Based on the trim tag, this car was originally equipped with a blue standard interior (715 code) and was originally painted Cortez Silver (paint code 69). The VIN indicates it was a V8 car. Because this was a California built car, there is no X code listed.
I purchased this car 15 years ago as a driver project car. It has been garage kept since I have owned it and is well taken care of and many upgrades have been done in that time. The GM Goodwrench 350 it had has been replaced with a big block 396 V8 engine. The engine is equipped with a Comp 270 cam and a Holly 770 Street Avenger carburetor. New aluminum radiator is installed. It is equipped with Hedman Elite Headers, full length custom dual exhaust with an X-pipe and Magnaflow Mufflers. Car runs and drives great. Exhaust sounds awesome. Engine is dressed up nicely with billet aluminum valve covers and accessories.
Engine has approximately 500 miles on it.
The car is equipped with a T/H350 automatic transmission. The transmission was professionally serviced a few years back and a shift kit and upgraded torque converter installed. Transmission functions well and shifts nicely. Transmission has less than 1500 miles on it since the service was performed. There is a minor ATF leak but the transmission is functioning flawlessly, likely just needs a new pan gasket. The car has its original 10-bolt rear end.
The car was a factory A/C car but none of the equipment remains. The car has factory power drum breaks and power steering.
The car retains the original blue standard interior. A reproduction factory console has been installed and the shifter moved to the floor. The console contains functional gauges. Speedometer is original and works. Tachometer is a new reproduction which works but is not hooked up. Car has a new dash pad. Original stereo has been removed and replaced with an Alpine CD player.
Door panels are in good shape and all windows roll up and down well. Driver's seat has a small rip in the seat and the passenger seat a large rip (see photos). Back seat is in good shape.
Body is nice. No rust is noticeable around the back window and no rust visible in the fenders. Paint is older so minor dings are present. Body appears to be free of rust. There is a stress crack next to the rear window on the driver's side (see photos). Car has a reproduction steel cowl hood installed, hood has not been painted. Car has American Racing 200S rims installed.
This car is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a fun driver or a straight forward project. It has loads of potential but is fun just as it is. I have taken the car to various local car shows over the years and even brought home a couple sponsor trophies.
I have attempted to do a walk around video of the car to give a better look at it and to hear it run. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opejabyw9BU&t=6s
