1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Additional Info:
~26 years ago my parents bought this car (@ ~50k miles) from the original owner while on a trip to Oregon. My brother and sister drove it home to California. The car sat in the garage for the first 10 years we owned it, and has been sitting in the driveway, covered, since then. Recently, the driveway needed resurfacing, so we replaced the brake master cylinder, all four wheel cylinders, cleaned the carb and got it running enough to move it out of the driveway. We've decided the time has come to find a new home for "The 52."
Good stuff...
- The engine starts up and feels strong.
- The transmission (3-on-the-tree) and clutch work fine.
- The car is complete. All chrome pieces are there, including original hubcaps.
- Body panels are fairly straight.
- Heater blower motor works.
- The headlights and taillights work.
- The floorboards seem solid.
- The trunk spare wheel well is not rusted through.
- Original owners manual.
Not so good stuff...
- There are dents and scrapes on many of the chrome pieces.
- The bumper chrome is flaking off. (see pictures)
- The engine smokes some (bad gas and valve oil seals most likely).
- Turn signals need some attention (only front left blinks).
- The exhaust rattles as I think a hanger near the rear broke.
- Water got into the driver door. The driver door window is tough to roll down, so I didn't push it and rolled it back up.
- Moisture also got into the interior of the car as there is staining and surface rust visible on the dash, headliner, etc. (see pictures)
- There is surface rust on the underside of the car.
- Some rust showing through paint on top of rear fenders.
- The tires are old and need to be replaced.
- Front, passenger-side wing window has a crack in the glass.
- I think the car was repainted, or touched up, as there are green paint drips on one of the door sills.
We never registered the car in California, but have the Oregon title.
I'm being honest about what I know about this car and have listed the items I noticed. This is a 60+ year old car that needs work. It is not in "drive away" condition, however it will drive onto a trailer. Send me a message if you have any questions, or if there's anything else you'd like me to check out and report back on.
