1981 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:
I have sold my shop and now my 1981 Corvette is for sale. RETIRED. I believe this car to be one of the few St Louis Two Tone Corvettes. It is published in The Corvette Black Book that there were less than a 100 of these cars produced. It is not a pilot car. The trim tag does not have the two tone color code on it. The St Louis GM exec cars were two toned after they came off the line. I had two NCRS judges come to my shop to inspect the car. They stated that it appeared to be one but would not say 100% that it was because of the lack of proper documentation. Here is some history about the car. My cousin owned the car for 33 years, they bought it off of a friend that purchased the car new at Bob Mc Dorman Chevrolet. I restore Corvettes. My cousin called me several times wanting to know if I wanted to buy it. It is just setting in my garage. After about six months and just finishing a frame off on a 64 coupe I went and looked at it. As I'm looking at the car they stated the friend said that it was a special car. There are cross flag emblems on the drivers seat and rocker moldings. The paint has some scratches and is lacquer checked. I was in between projects so I bought it just to paint it and resell. Now comes the work. I knew the original owner had passed and his wife had remarried. I was able to track down his older brother. He remembered his brother having a bunch of Corvettes but not this car. After talking to him several times he invited me over. I pulled in his driveway and he came out grinning from ear to ear. The old two tone Corvette I took him to Mc Dormans to pick it up, it was a birthday present for his wife. Mr Mc Dorman was a contributor on The Corvette Black Book and owned all kinds of rare GM cars. The car is original except the tires, carpet and antenna. Everything works but the am fm cb cassette radio and power antenna. Antenna does work with after market radio and bezel. I have pictures of the build sheet that will tell you all the options. 59063 documented miles. Please when you bid, bid as if you are bidding on a low mile Corvette that could or could not be one of the St Louis two tone Corvettes. If you have any additional info on these cars pass it along. If you have less than a 10 feedback contact me before bidding. Inspection are welcome and encouraged.
