1948 Chevy Pickup (5 Window) truck
No Reserve
I have for sale, at NO RESERVE, a great Chevrolet pickup. This truck is a one ton, so the front end fenders, hood, etc. are the same as a regular pickup, not the larger variety like the 1.5 ton and larger farm trucks. It is also the highly sought after 5 window version.
This truck spent the majority of its life with one family in northwest Kansas. Was purchased new by them, was sold to another farm, and then bought back by the original owners family. This is who I purchased it from. It has spent the majority of its life indoors, and I have found ZERO rust on it anywhere. It does appear it was at least partially repainted, it looks like many years ago. It had a couple of dents fixed, - the common spot in front of the driver door, where our famous Kansas wind catches the door and dents the panel in front of it, and also a small one on the roof. Overall this truck very straight, very presentable, and turns heads when people see it. The top of the hood is a little sun baked, actually gives it a nice patine.
Mechanically this truck seems really solid. It fires right up, idles smooth, and runs great. I currently have a 12 volt battery in it, so it either needs a 6 volt battery, or needs converted to 12 volt, which is pretty simple.
One issue that will need to be addressed is the right rear brakes. The brakes do work, but the right rear wants to stick, so its going to need a wheel cylinder or brake line, or something along those lines. It also should be pretty simple, as all the other brakes work as they should. One bonus with this pickup is the hydraulic dump bed. It is PTO operated, and works flawlessly. This would be very handy for numerous projects. Overall this is an extremely solid, good looking truck, that is realistically a couple days of tinkering away from being a daily driver. Keep in mind that it is 70 years old, so there are sure to be little things here and there, but this is definitely one that any novice mechanic can tackle and have a lot of fun with. I have applied for title, and will guarantee a good clear Kansas title in my name, although it may be a week or two after the auction before I receive it from the state. Please check my previous feedback if you have any concerns. And also, please call me with any questions - 620-786-5172.
