Half truck, half car and all KINDS of power. This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 is loaded with top tier components that make it a blast to drive, including a sizable powerplant under the hood, as well as an upgraded suspension that puts this classic's ride and power handling ability on a par with its sheer acceleration prowess. Equally at home ruling the boulevard as it would be on display on the car show circuit, this vintage Chevy is...one very impressive ride. The teal color this El Camino wears is its original shade and it's been brought back to life in very impressive fashion. Resprays are often a mixed bag, in that they do freshen up a car's appearance but often leave missteps along the way, but the work done here was very exacting and even up close you'd be hard pressed to find any imperfections. The signature Chevy shade is nicely complemented by a whole host of fresh-looking exterior fittings - both the front and rear bumpers look great, as does the chrome trim and the badging on all sides is on point. Up front, a pair of double headlights loom over a fresh grille and the contrasting black rocker panels running the lengths of the sides tie in perfectly with the vinyl top crowning the cabin, which appears to be recently installed. This classic is sporting some pretty serious rubber in back, and the offset has been matched perfectly to provide a very impressive, finished appearance. That same level of quality follows you as you climb inside, where a very clean black vinyl interior awaits. The bench seat is nicely padded and well fitted, as are the door panels to each side, and the fresh black carpeting below is accented by a pair of floor mats whose bright graphics provide a nice bit of contrast. The factory gauges residing in the cluster just beyond the billet steering wheel are clear and functional and are joined by aftermarket Sport Comp displays to keep tabs on RPMs, oil pressure and operating temperature. A retro-style stereo is at the center of the dash and features an auxiliary port to broaden your audio options while a recently installed Vintage Air system combines with the in dash vents to keep you and your passengers nice and comfortable. Given the high standards found everywhere else on this classic, it comes as no surprise that the bed area wears a very clean liner and is in great condition. The sizable V8 lurking under the hood exceeds the promise of displacement proclaimed on this El Camino's badging, delivering a full 454 cubic inches. The engine has been outfitted with aluminum heads and a Holley 4-barrel to further increase its output as it combines with a rugged and smooth-functioning 3 speed automatic TH400 transmission. With its aftermarket headers leading out to a Flowmaster dual exhaust, the motor sounds out a great note and the chrome shrouded radiator up front features a pair of dual electric fans to keep engine temperatures in check. The compartment has been dressed up with a number of additional chrome components, including the alternator and air conditioning compressor, and really looks nice. Hotchkis suspension components have also been installed, so the power handling and ride on this classic are top notch as it turns heads on its set of 17" American Racing wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials. This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 is as clean as they come and the power it wields has to be experienced to be appreciated. Call today!
