You don't often come across cars of any type that have seen more than two decades of life and yet have logged well under 80,000 miles, let alone any that can boast the sleek design and strong drivetrain featured in this 1994 Chevrolet Corvette. It's got a great looking exterior color that greets the present in enviable condition and would be a great acquisition for the enthusiast looking for agile performance and open-air excitement. The years... have definitely been kind to this '94's exterior. Black cars of any age have a sort of visual vulnerability, in that their color tends to magnify every ding and blemish and yet this one is downright impressive, with no serious imperfections to pull focus anywhere to be seen. From front to back, everything's in good alignment and even the striped decals hovering over the tops of the front fenders still show consistent coloring and sharp edges. A lot of planning and refinement was involved when Chevy made the transition from the third to fourth generation of Corvettes and this one - a member of the latter - sports a design far more similar to those of the present day, with its sharply angled windshield and pronounced rise from front to back. Its targa top is another big plus that affords the enjoyment of driving with just the blue sky above you, but with the protection of a hard top just a couple of steps away. The gray interior has the attributes for a great driving environment. The gray leather bucket seats feature nice tall backs and pronounced bolsters for good support while cornering, and they bracket a center console that's still in clean condition and positions the low-profile shifter within easy reach. The dash area has a decidedly "driver-centric" feel to it, with an array of clear gauges sitting conveniently laid out inside the cluster and an assortment of controls, all still functional, just off to the right. Comfort features include air conditioning that's still blowing strong and cold, a tilt column, cruise control, an AM/FM radio and power windows. Chevy began installing airbags in their Corvettes the year this one came out, and they provide a welcome additional measure of safety while on the road. Raise the hatch in back and you'll find a storage area whose condition belies its age, with not much in the way of wear and tear evident and stain free carpet. This true American sports car features a "hands-on" drivetrain that's a perfect match for such an agile performer, in the form of a 350-cubic inch LT1 V8 that's mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. With an induction system sitting just in front of the powerplant to feed it cold dense air, combined with a K&N filter to minimize airflow restriction, the engine is in very good form, starting right up and pulling strong. The suspension remains nice and tight, combining with the Corvette's low center of gravity and its precise power steering to provide exemplary handling. There are power disc brakes at all four corners, so stops come as quickly as you'd want. This sleek, low-slung Chevy sits on a set of 18" aftermarket wheels that carry Riken Raptor tires. The wheels look great with their broad spokes and concealed lugs, but should you prefer a more factory-correct appearance, the original "Sawblade" wheels - still mounted on their tires - come with the car. This 1994 Chevrolet Corvette offers the rare opportunity to own an open-air fourth generation version of this admired model that's well positioned to offer miles and miles of future driving excitement.
