4 DAYS LEFT. Then goes to auction. Not just C10 enthusiasts, but those specialized truck builders I work with are impressed with the character and construction of this build. I have 3 c10s and multiple muscle cars but this is THE truck that pulls everyone to it like bees to honey. Enter the gas station with that menacing rumble and stance......and the swarm begins!
Not the typical C10, but something much more special. An older pro restoration on a unique Apache model, freshened up and done right. This is one case where it is extremely hard to illuminate just how stunning this Apache is.

History
I purchased this Apache 10 in California and have spent the entire time of owning it fixing little things to make this already cool truck even better. Its history has been a truck that was occasionally driven and showed. The tires I replaced were 18 years old and the tread was still very good on all 4. It has lived in Washington state but does not exhibit the typical rust damage characteristic of a wet climate. The seller left handwritten notes that the Crate 350 was new. There are a lot of clues to support this but mileage is unknown.
Overall Driving experience
Starts quickly, flawless throttle response with no hesitation, no smoke, idles great, no engine noises. Steers and drives straight, no wandering on highway, no humming or clanking noises from drivetrain. No humming of rear end or crunching universal joints, no brake squeal. Exhaust system sounds ominous but not overly loud. That cammed, bumpy muscle resonance you gotta have. Shifts normally. Reverse Lockout works on B&M but the red indicator needle is missing.
Yeah, its got suds! Plenty of power from that crate 350. No detonation.
Stops, like right now! The power disc brakes work incredibly well. Steers well without growling noise from power steering unit. Doors secure, electric popper latch holding over bumps now.
A smooth ride on new wheels and tires with a very powerful stereo that is very crisp, loud and plenty of Bass, when you want that. You can adjust your ride height to where it suits you. It will drop low for show.
Had no overheating issue even without an aluminum radiator, even when it was 110 outside. Electric fans come on when needed, not running all the time.
Now I may be a picky one about ride comfort. I have not mastered the 6 button EZ Ride air suspension which includes 2 dash mounted paddle valves, PSI gauge, compressor, air tanks and some toggles switches. The ride at any height was very smooth and comfortable. However, when we installed the Monroe gas shocks some level combinations introduced a bouncy aspect. The compressor works as designed and the system works fine according to my mechanic who has installed these. It may be learning curve thing.
Exterior Condition
Great stance you can adjust with four buttons, to exactly your taste. Straight body lines, proper hood, bed cover and door fitment. Doors, hood, tailgate open and close properly. Professionally painted and done to high standards. Bumper Chrome looks triple chromed and fresh. Paint slick, swirl free, highly reflective, very even, not thinning or over buffed, cracking or peeling. the pinstriping is straight, well aligned and properly integrated under the clear coat layer. Rubber seals are not dried out and cracked. Cowl area is clean. Windows roll up and down without assistance. The Bed cover now sits properly with new shocks. This could be a 9 but for a few small bubbles on rear fenders and typical door edge chips. So I give it an easy 8 that could go to 9 for little money. The only obvious issue is a cracked vent window. The truck was locked with all the windows up and no popper remote was ever installed, so the transporter broke the vent window to open the door.
We installed a new remote popper system. We did not get to replacing the glass. The bedwood slats are serviceable but quite weathered. The interior bed walls though not banged up, could be sprayed with matching Gray Linex and new slats installed for a buyer wanting to SHOW the Apache rather than USE it as a daily driver.
Engine Bay
Shows very well. Clean and neat with no amateurish modifications. So much looks new. Carb, Valve Covers, pulleys, brackets., Intake manifold, choke, linkage and fuel pump... even the block. Underside hood, cowl, Inner fenders firewall and radiator support all in good condition. Gaskets show very little age. No leaking seen. Lots of chrome or polished Edelbrock and Holley components. Hoses, belts all look in very good condition. Battery holds a charge and alternator works properly.
Guages/controls/Electrical
Hi/Lo Headlights, front and rear signals, brake lights, and all the cluster gauges, Autometer tach, including fuel gauge work well and fully illuminated. (latter sending unit replaced.) Typical to West/Southwest vehicles, heater is deleted.
The wiring in the truck shows replacement rewiring throughout and the fuse block was replaced at some point, but it retains the glass fuses style. I typically rewire my vehicles with American Autowire kits with blade fuses. But since we really had no big electrical issues and it wasn't 50 year old wiring I left it as is rather than increase my price. I have a great wiring guy that would love to do that for the buyer for a great price prior to delivery.
Undercarriage
Frame, undercarriage including floor pans appear solid, I saw no rust through or patch panels. Undersides of Fender wells are undercoated. The undercarriage appears to have been treated at some point with either POR or some other rust preventative product. It looks clean without an accumulation of grease or any leaking fluids. I have more undercarriage photos if you want them. Body mounts are not blown out and springs, bags and A arms look fine. From underneath the Starter, cables, engine pan and bolts, oil filter, gaskets and many accessories do look recent. Transmission case is clean. Exhaust is galvanized steel and shows some rust spots, but not through and not leaking. Rear differential looks clean as well. No leaking brake cylinders or leaking calipers.
I should mention that when buying a vintage vehicle I have learned to look under and behind the dash at the firewall. Often you will see a lot of rust in there even on an otherwise clean car. This trucks firewall is very nice and dash looks good.
What's left to do?
Over the year in the shop, we have sorted out the gremlins and while none were major issues, the list added up fast. We did not replace the wing window or refinish the oak bed. I have taken this Apache as far as it needs to go for someone to have a beautiful and reliable C10 they can drive every day that won't cost $50K. This is a spectacular looking and reliable custom truck and though I have picked at flaws I have discovered, it gives you a fuller picture.
Why selling?
I have an ongoing issue with buying too many cars and when they all come back from the various old timers shops, I end up storing several. It's just not fun to own a cool car you can't at least admire in your garage. This will go to the January Scottsdale auctions if it doesn't sell here. Check my feedback, Over the years, most all of those few cars sold sight unseen. I would much rather sell to someone who comes and looks at it. At an auction buyers can see it which causes me less worry. They also pay buyers premium and sales tax and I pay sellers premium.
