1980 Chevrolet C-10 Additional Info:
I am selling my 1980 Chevrolet C10 LS swapped truck. I bought this truck several months ago from a friend. We did some horse trading and he owed me some money and I can't pass up short bed chevy/gm trucks. The truck was originally a diesel, but when I took possession it had a decent running small block. I was driving home the day I got the truck and after having to tinker with the carb to get it started. It was sucking gas and barely could get out of it's own way. Then it died. Assuming it was a carb issue, because it usually is, I started checking things and it wasn't getting any fuel. It needed a fuel pump. Well, when you are broke down and waiting, it gives you a lot of time to think. If anyone reading this has bought an old car and had it immediately break down, it's a downer. The wife happily flat towed me home. It sat in my field for a month to think about what it did to me. I towed it to my work. (I own a small dealership). I found donor truck already swapped. I had a mechanic swap everything over to my short bed and here we are.
The engine is a 1999 5.3L out of a Silverado 1500. The transmission is a stock TH350. I was told it was fresh, but have no proof of that. It shifts fine. The engine is stock except a set of V band headers, no cat or muffler with single exhaust. It has a very quiet idle, but sounds healthy under throttle. It also has a non oem air intake. It's running the stock computer/tune. The OBD2 port is mounted under the hood. This swap is not a high dollar professional swap. This is a budget swap. It has swap mounts, still has stock trans mount, and stock driveline. It fires right up and runs well. I drive it daily. The only factory gauge that works is the speedo. We added a dorky three gauge pod to monitor voltage, temp and oil pressure. It has no radio and is a basic truck with roll up windows, rubber floors and no a/c. The cab floor is solid, the cab corners aren't. It has new (aftermarket) fenders and the bed needs bedsides. It has rust in the corners and someone drilled holes for snap clips for a bed cover it must have had years ago. It was originally orange and has been painted once.
The interior is original and rough. It needs a dash pad, door panels etc. It's completely usable as is, just not nice. It drives down the road well. It has a new flip kit,new shocks and greaseable lowering shackles in the rear to give it about 7" drop and it has new 3" drop spindles and cut front springs (springs were cut when I got it) to give it about a 5" drop up front. I have a bolt in C notch kit for the rear but I haven't had it bottom out on me so I haven't installed it. It will include it with the truck. It drives well, tires are older but they all match and have good tread. Wheels are a few different colors.
The main issues with the truck are the power steering pump lost a line and was run without fluid for a couple days. Ever since then the brake pedal has to go down further to stop. It still stops excellent. It also is throwing a code for idle air control. It has a surge when it's idling. We checked for vacuum leaks and didn't find any so I would guess it needs an idle air control valve. (I can fix these 2 things for new buyer). It also is leaking a little trans fluid out the front of the trans. I also believe it has a small oil leak as well. I upgraded the headlights also. It's a fun truck to have. I enjoy it, I just have too many personal cars and I am starting to get rid of them. This is the best one because it actually runs and drives. I wouldn't be afraid to jump in it and go. It's titled in my name. Please email with any questions. I can help arrange shipping if you want it shipped out!
