1972 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:

This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is one impressively sharp vintage drop top. As a member of the model's third generation, it carries a shape so compelling and ahead of its time that Chevy wisely chose to leave it largely unchanged for a full 14 years, instead making only subtle modifications during that time. It's running in rock solid condition and stands ready to provide a smile-inducing classic open-air driving experience. Dressed in its fetching blue shade, this '72 ably illustrates just how revolutionary this generation of Corvettes must have seemed when they were introduced. With Chevy's Mako shark mid-'60s concept car as an obvious inspiration, the long hood, gill-like vents in the front fenders and flowing curves from front to back created a look no other manufacturers dared to try to match - Chevy's American sports car had its niche largely to itself as far as mass-produced attainable cars were concerned. The paint is in very solid condition and looks great in any setting, but it becomes especially magnetic when brought out into the sunlight. The chrome and bright work on this classic is all in good shape - the bumpers both fore and aft sit table-level and show no glaring blemishes, the trim surrounding the windshield is very clean and the badging throughout is very much on point. The sturdier frame Chevrolet brought into action starting with the previous generation has done its job well - you'll find no evidence of sagging and the doors open and close smoothly. The pop-up headlights, often a problem spot on Corvettes of this era, work just as intended and lay flush with their surroundings in their lowered position. Stylish, driver-centric interiors have been a hallmark of the Corvette nameplate ever since they were introduced, and this one is a fine representative. It's in very good condition, with bucket seats that have retained their shape well and whose black vinyl covers show very little wear as they straddle a center console in the same condition - showing its signature incline that puts the shifter in nice, easy reach. Below, the black carpeting appears to have been recently replaced, or at least unusually well-protected, and to either side the door panels still cling flush to their frames. Up front, the dash area has been thoroughly restored, featuring clear factory gauges in its instrument cluster that are joined by five more in the center laid out in an aeronautically inspired fashion, and a supple-looking pad across the top. Its smooth functioning drivetrain means this Corvette is ready to create future memories as soon as you get it home. The 305 cubic inch V8 sitting in its engine bay is a strong performer that starts up quickly and sounds great as it exhales into its dual exhaust. It's dressed up with an Edelbrock chrome air cleaner and matching valve covers, while an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carb add some power to the mix as the engine teams with a 4-speed manual transmission that's shifting with confidence-inspiring precision. Corvettes were already sporting fully independent rear suspensions for quite some time when this '72 debuted, and here the feature teams with a low-slung stance and smooth power steering to make for impressive cornering agility. This ride is sure to impress as it cruises the asphalt on its set of 15" Rally wheels that are wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials. A classic Corvette in road-ready condition is always a welcome find, and the open air driving experience this 1972 Chevrolet Corvette convertible offers makes for an even more compelling proposition.
