1972 El Camino 454 SS Clone
Big block engine performance in a classic ‘72 El Camino body style – what’s not to love! This thing gets looks and compliments EVERYWHERE you go, in part because of the sweet stance and hugger orange color with black racing stripe on hood, but mostly because of the sound, a beautiful rumble from a well-tuned engine and exhaust. And with the 454 engine powering such a light truck bed - the burnouts this car will do! You can’t always hear the performance engine when you are driving because of the kick ass stereo with awesome subwoofer system, but you can always feel the engine rumble through the seat.I bought this in 2010 as a project car and have been upgrading it ever since (a partial list of improvements is below, have most of the receipts). It came with a 305, but I swapped it out for a 454 because, well, it is an El Camino! Was married in 2014 and stopped driving it as much and never got around to finishing the body and repainting it. We only have a 2 car garage and wife needs an inside space for her car so something needs to go (and wife says she is staying!).$15,000 obo on a first come basis. Serious inquiries only. Please no tire kickers (or people wanting burnout practice)Upgrades include:Rebuilt 454 (2011)Rebuilt transmission (2016)Gas tank, strapsFuel filter/pressure reg/electric fuel pump/gm water outlet gasket/ BB Chevy vc kitholley 4601 open center, Fuel supply line, Unions for fuel lineR&R starterRadiator, thermostat, fan clutch assembly, gaugesMaster break cylinderDeep cell batteryAlpine Stereo, amp, speakers, subwooferDinomat soundproofingAlternatorWater pump/paint/fuel panManifoldWheel wellsDistributor capEngine paintChokeTiresFuel lineFloor pansBrushing barStabilizer linksSprings/shocksSending unitThrottle returnStraighten and alignFuel hoseGas capHeadlinerAir cleanerBushingsBattery traySpeed cableUpper arm control busingStud kitThrottleMale clampEx gasketTapeTieHex boltsBlazbolt kitZinc trimF/P PlateGasketSpark plugsRace filterTransmission fluid/hood pinsAlignment/power steering fluidBrad Maxwell – transmission/speed cableShroudTransmission, oil change, retap oil drainSS Steering wheelBelt v, boltsDual feed assembly
On the flip side there are a few issues I was going to address but won’t since I am selling it: gas pedal needs to be replaced, HVAC (it looks like it has everything for AC but condenser) and fan doesn’t run properly, windshield fluid pump doesn’t work, seals in window need to be replaced, some rust to be repaired when it is eventually repainted. It is a 1972 classic car so, obviously, it is being sold “as is” w/o representations.
