A LIFELONG CALIFORNIA/ ARIZONA CAR, BETWEEN THE LAST OWNER AND MYSELF, WE ACCUMULATED APPROXIMATELY $40K IN RESTORATION RECEIPTS EXCLUSIVE OF OUR PURCHASE PRICES FOR THIS CAR: IN OTHER WORDS THIS CLEAN CAR HAS JUST ABOUT HAD A FRAME ON RESTORATION WITH NO EXPENSE SPARED.
EXTERIOR
THE BODY IS STRAIGHT WITH GOOD LINES AND RETAINS THE FACTORY POLYURETHANE BUMPERS. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAINTED IN DARK CLARET METALLIC (E.G. MAROON) OVER THE NEW FACTORY DOESKIN (E.G. LIGHT TAN) INTERIOR. THE PAINT HAS A FEW NICKS THAT HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP OVER THE YEARS. ALL OF THE WEATHERSTRIP IS NEWER AND REMAINS SOFT TO THE TOUCH. THE FRONT AIR DAM HAS ALSO RECEIVED NEW RUBBER AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS. THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED WITH FACTORY REPRODUCTION COLOR CODED VACUUM LINES, NEW HEADLIGHT ACTUATOR CANS AND SEALS, AND DIVERTER VALVES: BOTH HEADLIGHTS POP UP AND GO DOWN QUICKLY. ALL THE LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS WORK. THE HORN WORKS AS DO THE WIPERS WHICH HAVE NEWER BLADES. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE NICELY AND DON’T SAG AS MANY DO. THE GLASS TOPS ALSO REMAIN NICE AND HAVE NO NOTICEABLE BLEMS, THEY HAVE BEEN WELL CARED FOR AS THIS CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. THE TINTED WINDOWS KEEP THE CAR NOTICEABLY COOLER.
INTERIOR
THE INTERIOR IS BASICALLY ALL NEW OR RESTORED INCLUDING NEW REPRODUCTION CORVETTE AMERICA DASH, NEW GAUGE SPEEDO/ TACH GAUGE LENS, NEW CENTER GAUGE CLUSTER BEZEL, AND NEW CONSOLE. WE ALSO INSTALLED NEW REPRODUCTION SEAT COVERS, CARPET AND DOOR PANELS. I ALSO INSTALLED A NEW SET OF CUSTOM LLOYD'S FLOOR MATS BECAUSE THEY LOOK SO COOL. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WORK AS DO ALL OF THE GAUGES (EXCEPT THE CLOCK) AND EVEN THE POWER DOOR LOCKS! (DO YOU KNOW WHY CORVETTES HAVE CLOCKS? SO THE OWNERS KNOW WHAT TIME THEIR CAR LEFT THE FACTORY.) EVEN THE POWER WINDOWS ALSO GO UP AND DOWN SMOOTHLY. I ALSO ACQUIRED AN ORIGINAL FACTORY STEREO FOR THE CAR BUT DIDN’T HOOK IT UP RATHER WE INSTALLED FOUR NEW SPEAKERS AND A BLUETOOTH AMP TO PLAY MUSIC OR RADIO APPS (I.E. PANDORA, NPR, ETC.) DIRECTLY FROM MY/ YOUR PHONE.
MECHANICAL
THE CAR HAS RECEIVED A NEW FACTORY GOOD WRENCH GM 305 CUBIC INCH CRATE MOTOR MATED TO THE REBUILT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON THE ALTOGETHER NEW DRIVE TRAIN. THE “MR. GOOD WRENCH” GM STEEL VALVE COVERS WERE ON THE CAR WHEN I PURCHASED IT SO I PICKED UP A SET OF FACTORY CORVETTE FINNED ALUMINUM HIGH HORSE VALVE COVERS, HAD THEM POLISHED AND INSTALLED BECAUSE THEY LOOK SO COOL. WE ALSO HAD A REPRODUCTION FACTORY CORRECT COLOR CODED EMISSION HOSE KIT INSTALLED ON THE MOTOR TOGETHER WITH A REBUILT 1980 CORVETTE FACTORY CARBURETOR. BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSIONS AS WELL ALL FOUR BRAKE CALIPERS AND ROTORS WERE REBUILT/ REPLACED LESS THAN 10,000 MILES AGO. THE POWER STEERING HAS ALSO BEEN REBUILT WITH NEW PUMP, POWER STEERING CONTROL VALVE AND ALL NEW HOSES. THE TIRES ARE BRAND NEW (LESS THAN 100 MILES ON THEM) AND WE HAD THE ORIGINAL SLOTTED ALUMINUM WHEELS PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED WITH A FRESH POLISH AND RE-PAINTED “WINDOWS.” THE A/C HAS A NEWER COMPRESSOR AND THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO R-134. WHILE THE COMPRESSOR CLICKS ON, THE SYSTEM IS PROBABLY DUE FOR A RECHARGE. I WOULDN’T HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE.
