1965 Chevrolet Impala Additional Info:
This 1965 Impala is being offered with both the currently installed 327 and powerglide transmission as well as the original numbers matching 283. The 283 is removed and complete with cursive 'Chevrolet' valve covers. The 327 fires right up, runs excellent, and sounds incredible. It was acid dipped and professionally rebuilt to OEM specs by a shop owner in Pottstown, PA. He stated that the 327 was from a 1969 Impala convertible, but the block casting number shows as a 1968. The original powerglide transmission and drive shaft were also professionally rebuilt at the same time and all three have under 2000 miles on them although the trans has developed a leak in the pan area.
New accessories include a rebuilt 4 barrel Holley carb, aluminum Edelbrock intake, Accel HEI ignition coil, steel radiator, water pump, fuel pump, power steering pump, starter, alternator and battery as well as dual Flowmaster/exhaust system. A new dual master cylinder and new brake lines were added to replace the single reservoir cylinder. The mechanic who split the brake system also informed me that the gas line could use replacing.
The vehicle has been garage kept for the last 15 years that I am aware, but signs of some weathering are evident around the rear wheel wells, trunk and space beneath the vinyl at the rear window frame. Otherwise the body is in good shape as are the floor pans, chrome pieces, vinyl top and frame.
The interior has all of the original material. The seats are in need of reupholstering, but headliner and door panels are solid. Lights, wipers, and blinkers all work. No climate control, cigarette lighter or radio functions. The radio and original A/C system from 1965 are also included although in need of rebuild.
The vehicle is complete enough to make a nice restoration project with the 283 or possibly an SS tribute utilizing the 327/powerglide combo.
